Well, Cannondale's 2010 lineup is on the web. Lot's of crap to satiate weight weenie boutique buyers, but they butchered their mid-level & lower lineups. The cross bikes are a huge disappointment - last year, they were all CAAD9, and this year they appear to be using some asian made frame on all but the $2600+ models. Oh yeah, new Ultegra on that $2600 model; those shifters have exposed guts, so using them for cross... uh...yeah....

They also canned the headshock for Lefty.

That company is going to crap much faster than I thought!

they definitely seem to be going downhill in a hurry

i think 100% of their production is in taiwan for the 2011 models

don't really understand either abandoning or completely changing the way you make the thing you do best (caad9)

Once a company grows from what once made them famous, keeping up with the numbers vs. consistent quality is always a game of trade offs. My buddy had the head shock in his Bad Boy™ and totally hated it.

Cannondale got bought out last year by the company that also makes CCM (I think), so it's not that surprising.

Does anyone know where I can get some water resistant / proof summer booties? I see some for all weather wear which are felt lined and probably a bit too warm for the summer. I don't mind riding in the rain but I hate when my socks get wet and there are puddles in my shoes.

Keith offered a carbon fork, but haven't heard back from him yet. If find a sweet chrome one for sure TJ - I fear the fork I gave you a while back jet is too short for a 57.

Thanks again for all the feedback. I thought that Miele was a little steep. There's a Bianchi single speed conversion on ebay right now for $350 (seller is in Toronto). It's a 53 cm frame. Would that be a bit small for someone 5'10?

Too small.
It is weird.. if the bike has miele on it the seller is always asking at least $300.

I'd cautiously agree that it's too small, but in truth, it depends on your build. I'm roughly your height, and a 54.5cm TT is where I max out. You need to know exactly what length of top tube you're comfortable with.

LOL

Yeah. I'll be storing the bike next to the vacuum so I want it to match.

This is one of the better Mieles and it has some nice-ish parts, offer him $250, he has been listing it for a week or so and must be sick of it by now...

I was just in a meeting to try and determine how much at fault a cyclist was for an accident we are defending. The other cyclist at our firm said 100%, I said 75%.

He was basically traveling through an intersection at between 40-50km/h while looking over his shoulder (looking behind him), when he struck a car who was turning left (and had completed the turn, but was not out of the intersection).

But, I agree with the study that most accidents are caused by cars.

How serious is a dent in the toptube of a cromoly steel frame?

Looks like a good deal...Although, I'm not sure if this Miele has Horizontal dropouts. Here's a better picture of it on a Kijiji ad - looks like it might have vertical dropouts:

Looking closely, they appear to be short-slot horizontal dropouts like Campy 1010Bs or one of the many clones thereof.

Campy Victory or Triomphe deraillers and crank, too. Probably a decent bike.

I've got a nice Columbus Miele chromed fork available.. it's from a 54cm though, so prob a bit short.. I swapped it out cos the fork crown is panto'd with the Miele name and logo and doesn't match my frame.

This seems well overpriced at $550:

What is a conversion like this really worth?
Cheers!

It's a mid-range frame (fender-mounts and the slack angles tell us that) so really, the only true value in the conversion is the wheelset. I'd pay $100 for that wheelset if it were used and maaaaaaaaaaaybe $50 for the frame/fork. The other parts...maybe $50 all together from Bike Pirates or the CBN.

$175, tops. That bike looks like it was put together with junk parts.

Has anyone seen the cycling news previews on Gary Fisher's 2010 cyclocross lineup? Pretty interesting stuff: steel frames, sliding dropouts for SS or geared use... Hopefully they will throw in some disc tabs for extra utility.

The tire clearance is huge, too. Apparently 29x1.9" is no problem. :S

Everyone I talk to says that 29ers are going to replace mountain bikes. I'd love a steel SS 29er with drop bars...
