Did you just get the ticket? Go in, plead not guilty, they'll give you a court date, it will likely be more then 8 months away, which means that constitutionally they cannot enforce the ticket. I can send you the documents you need to raise the constitutional challenge to the ticket.

Word.

Would you mind sending them to me, too? I'm curious about this.

The problem with true pimpin' is you need to find a midget wearing chinchilla to roll with you. As per the conversation at Safety yesterday, you could throw him in a messenger bag and straight roll

Ok.. more thoughts on a conversion.. first off, does anyone have an extra 700c rear in decent shape lying around that they can loan out / want to sell cheap? I'm a bit wary of investing & taking the fixie plunge..

Otherwise, I'm still open to advice on what to buy.. cost is definitely a limiting factor. From what I've heard so far, I'll probably base the wheel on a formula hub, and can get something factory-built on a crappy rim for around $100, or something hand-built + more robust for $160-170 (LBS will build me a wheel on an open sport or a319 for around that price)

I've read all the SS/FG posts about this and have PMed some of the usual suspects/shop owners (thanks for your feedback .. just wondering what others have to say for someone sticking their toes in the water.

Yes. I can probably loan you a rear wheel. It's a crappy Suzue basic on an Alexrim DA28 with a 3/32 15t cog on it. That's the only cog I have on hand. It would be fine to get a sense of riding fixed but I wouldn't advise skidding or skipping on it. It's a little stiff because the cups are a scarred up, but the cones and bearings are new. It's on my work bike at the moment, but you could borrow it for a week or so. I do need it back at some point. If you borrow it the only condition is that if it gets ripped off, you'd replace it (or some compensation, given the hub is pretty beat up).

Anyone feel up to an early-ish Sunday Don ride tomorrow? Seeing as it's Mother's day, the morning's the only time I'll be able to sneak in a ride. All are welcome...

Seriously? I pleaded not guilty to the time last August when I got my 2.5 dozen stitches from the time I went through that read windshield of the Mercedes (after he turned and stopped in front of me) and they set a court date for this August... (failing to turn out to the left to avoid collision!)

Hmm...

Heh, I was surprised when another cruiser came pulling up afterwards to check when they stopped me, and stayed until the first was taking my information! I don't think I look like the badass type...

You're golden! You have to serve a bunch of papers, but you should have no problems.

Actually, you do have to show that the delay negatively impacted you, but I'm sure you can come up with something. Usually on car related stuff you say the delay affected your insurance rates.

You should definitely lace it up radial for the rear... It would be sooo oval, er, I mean aer0... Polish the rim with some aluminum polish... Also keep the 416 sticker so you can reprezant... Oh wait, you're a 905'er...

I disagree, you scare me.

ps. I think you rode past me on Thursday afternoon. I was sitting by the new UofT Varsity Stadium thingy eating lunch around 1:00pm and I think I saw you ride by in a Discovery jersey. I couldn't tell it was you for sure though, but it looked like may have been (the sexy red Poprad caught my attention).
