Dan is going crazy from all work no bike

Danhalen 10-08-07 01:45 PM

Don't mind if I do! Actually it's kind of funny that I'm able to ride a bit now, but I'm at home in Mississauga with no bike to ride other than the stationary in the basement. Oh the irony! Crazier even am going I. Looks like I'll be back in town tomorrow. I know you are all really disappointed. Especially Shamil.

We're back!

Me and my trusty 75lb steed and tam on her loaded '71 Raleigh 3sp successfully traversed the great pine ridges and back in four days. :)

Nice weather forecastin' Environment canada!

Does anyone remember the youtube link for that anime video of a road race? The original link got pulled.

On Saturday I grabbed a Zipcar at the crack of dawn and headed down to the falls to do a ride of mentioned here before from when I was a kid. I was trying it fixed and my buddy picked me up at the other end which was nice after riding for about 30k in torrential downpour with tour buses buzzing you.

It was surprisingly easier than I imagined but the climb back up the escarpment would be quite a challenge. And you should see the looks you get from the local roadies - large Italian and European communities - when I roll by with my deep-v's and deep track drops.

Oh, and check this - I get a voice mail from Will saying that Mike Barry - a.k.a. Jr, T-Mobile - is in town and may pop down on Wednesday. I wouldn't hold my breath but it definitely rules as best voice mail of the month.

That's cool man! Too bad about the rain though... Re: that last bit of news unbelievable!

Speaking of the bike show.....our boy Andrew has come up with some free passes again this year. I have 1 for the first 7 to p.m. me.

2wheelsgood 10-09-07 06:43 AM

the website is leading me to believe the show is on saturday only, is this true?

woot! That means I get to do the bike show early AND the cross race on Sunday. \o/

shapelike 10-09-07 07:09 AM

****, is the race Sunday? I thought it was Saturday. No worries, I'll reschedule my time at work. Whoever's driving, this is my official ride request. And now, time to go out and freeze my ass off/practice (knickers ... it's definitely time to get some knickers).

TRaffic Jammer 10-09-07 07:14 AM

Mr MacDonald does dainty and demur surprisingly well. A future in cabaret?....or a past? Nice shots Wes..where was the race? The Bike Show is indeed Saturday.

Well it is only at Bathurst and St. Clair. If it's raining I will bring the van for shelter...otherwise I am gonna ride up.

I did play Victor and Victoria in the High school production of Victor Victoria. Old habits die hard.

Earl Bales Park.. Bathurst & Sheppard.

ps. my right arm/shoulder hurts from hefting my bike up 5 flights of stairs and over 20 barriers (total throughout the race). :P

TRaffic Jammer 10-09-07 07:30 AM

What!!! I thought all these races were out of the city.....dang! See that's what I get for not paying attention. M Barry at the Wed. sprints....that would be nuts. Go away rain!!!! :lol:to Keith

As Keith said, next week is just at Bathurst & St. Claire.. so if anyone wants to race/watch, come on out!

ps. I need to get myself a cowbell for watching cross races. :)

Danhalen 10-09-07 08:12 AM

This may be an obvious question but who else wants to go early to the bike show and go in when the doors open?

Christian - I'm still up for Dim Summit! I'm just now quite physically able to do that long of a ride yet. The shoulder is coming along nicely though.

TRaffic Jammer 10-09-07 08:14 AM

I might pass on this show... as I believe I will have next to no coin of the realm.

That's what I was thinking. In the past we've all gotten together beforehand at Moonbean, but this year I think we either need to leave much earlier or we should get together AFTER so we can have Show & Tell with our purchases. :)

TRaffic Jammer 10-09-07 08:16 AM

Not ALL purchases CAN be brought to DerKoffeHaus. Many are taken home and lain with in some un-natural way. Show/Sat or Race/Sun... choices choices
