Saw someone get hit today right in front of the shop... Guy decided the fastest way around the guy turning left in front of him was to merge into the bike lane. Unfortunate indeed for the woman who happened to be there when he did. He finished his phone conversation before he got out to see if she was alright:eek:

She went down pretty hard- he knocked her into the curb and I think she landed on her elbow. I pulled her bike off her, but luckily some guy in a van had the whole first aid deal and knew how to use it so he took over from there. I think she's probably got a broken elbow. What a ****ty deal.

Stay sharp out there. Watch it tomorrow - gusty winds and trucks without sideskirts = disaster waiting to happen.

P.S The canadian transportation board rejected proposal for mandatory sideskirts on trucks for economic/evil reasons.

No way in hell I'm paying an extra 40 cents for my big screen plasma TV just to save a few hippies on bikes

The CHIN race course is exactly 1.25km. The regular route around the CNE is longer, of course.

So I am getting the required tools to mark out the distances down on Unwin today. If the rain co-operates I will go down there tonite to do the line painting. John has been really busy and hasn't had a chance to make it down there. If the weather doesn't co-operate tonite I will try to make it down there in the morning so that the paint has a chance to dry. If all goes according to plan first sprints tommorrow evening at 7ish. Does anyone know if the construction on the single lane bridge on Unwin has been completed yet?

I_bRAD 06-19-07 07:16 AM

The unwin bridge was still closed when I rode by there on Sunday (the narrow passage for bikes/peds excepted)

These are fixie sprints, right? I'm gonna get pwned with my gearing. :P Guess I should put my drops back on! Although I actually don't think I'll be able to make it this week as I have a friend visiting.

I am on a 44 X 17....you and me behind the portables after school buddy!

I_bRAD 06-19-07 08:28 AM

Last time I tried sprinting on my SS I threw the chain and wound up in the ER. It's fixed properly now, but I still have a mental block about sprinting on that one...

Wes- that sucks about Dave's bike! Did the strap come loose or something?

pyze-guy 06-19-07 08:58 AM

By the time I get going on my bike, the other sprinter will be drinking tea. Damn 42/14.

Do they know that being covered in diesel particulates does not qualify the frame as being carbon? :P

Yessir....I don't ride it enough to justify keeping it. I want a single 29er. If I didn't already have 5 bikes I would just keep it.
