Wasn't there some photo history or something along the lines of "scorchers to scrambles"?

Oh.
I'd be interested to read about the alleycat history if someone is taking on that project!

Any doc, with the history of alleycats in mind, must begin with Johnny Jetfuel. The term "alleycat" was coined by him for a bunch of guys doing late night races in mostly underground garages. This morphed into the first open race for all comers in, I believe, 86. As far as I know, short of the cursory, minor blurbs you find online, I know of no comprehensive history being done by anybody.
Since moving into the JetFuel hood I end up chatting a lot with Johnny and what with the fest going on, yesterday it sort of hit me that this style of race is huge around the globe now and Toronto and the people who "started" it all are being left out of the history. Not cool. Not to mention the fact that there have been messenger races in Toronto since about 1895! Plus, with the world's here next year, it would be cool to have some of that history out in the open.
Anyways, I've been muddling this idea around and wanted to know if it had already been done. I'm gonna talk to Johnny and see what he thinks. Because really, I totally agree Keith, without at least one of them involved there's no point - it would just be more broken telephone history.
Thanks all!

P.S Is there going to be a second run of laminated shiznaz spoke cards? I'd really like one.

Alright...this might be the bad place to ask...But I need a ss/fg bike in a 54-56 sized frame (5'11") and I need it by...tuesday of next week...Im going to halifax, but i wish to have this sorted out before then. I have one catch though...Im not willing to spend over $300 for the full bike.
Sorry for the short notice...but Its really important that I have this bike before I leave

can it wait til you get there? ideal bikes in halifax has lots of fixed bikes, conversions, new and used; they stock soma now (i was in town last week), it's on barrington. certified dudes there. it would also be cheaper, since there is less of a cool cache attached to fixed riding there. www.idealbikes.ca

Does anyone know if there are restrictions on bringing your bike on the EB go train leaving from Union? I've heard no bikes at rush hour, but is that just coming into the city or both directions?
If so, what's the earliest I can get on with the bike?
Thanks!

hey... did Ryan ever post that thing he found about the Via Rail bike trips form Union to Niagara falls that have been happening all summer? we were talking about it thinking it would have been nice to know the service existed earlier in the summer since this is the last weekend for it...

Be careful as well. IT says you may not take them between those times, you are also technically not allowed inside union station with a bicycle at those times either (which is lameo).

Your right - that's what I did a search to find out. I wanted to see if any details surfaced about the driver/charges... anything. This article is the only recent peice I could find. I wonder whats going on out there.
Cavit8: There where a couple of people looking at me from time to time - I thought for sure it must be someone from the forum... sorry. I'm going to be at Spin tonight for the other party.

PS- Cam, it was me asking about red light go. i still think it's a glaring ommision from the film festival. and i still feel it's a travesty i can't attend any more events...

The best place to put your bike on the subway is leaning right against the conductors door at the ends of each car. With the exception of bus racks on some TTC buses, the support for mixed mode transportation across T.O and the GTA is non-existent and doesn't look likely to change anytime soon.

Spoke to Nadir about it last night and he said probably about $10/entry and wants to give both M & F 1st an even split of the pot.

Jesus, I have no idea what's going on these days. I should start a bridge club or something.

tossing around idea: since Keith is leaving early today for the 24-hr race, is anyone interested in getting together for a beer and some food after work?
