Bikes: TBL Onyx Pro(ss converted), Pake SS (starting to look kinda pimped)

I was talking to a bike cop that was ticketing one a couple weeks ago on Queen, he seems pretty on the fence as to what was going to happen with these E-bikes. He did think they were pretty cool in terms of reducing congestion, but did in fact make a point of wondering why cars were more likely not to freak out at somebody taking the lane in one of those vs. a bike. He said he'd rather ride his bike. I can;t imagine gutter bunnying on one of those things. Did I hear safety?

Someone please remind me to not be so nice to just ANYONE who wants to talk about bikes. Case in point: a bunch of people at my work - a place notorious for hipsters... well and I guess responsible for creating them - have recently started asking me about "those fixed gear bikes". I get excited and answer all of their questions and realize that they don't actually want to know anything... they just want to ride one for now. A second ago, one of them walked in wearing an old school Castelli jersey. He doesn't even own a bike. :S

And on the E-Bike tip; agreed, terribly obnoxious and unnecessary. However, I have to agree with Keith - one battle at a time. A speaking of, I had a good talk with a parking enforcement bike cop this morn after passing - I ***** you not - 12 vehicles parked in the Gerrard bike lane. Including a delivery truck facing on coming traffic - very illegal. He said to start logging complaints at the main office with the addresses of repeat offenders. I'm also going to include licence plates, company phone numbers and pictures if they'll let me. He gave me this number:

416.808.6600

Soon to be that glut of parts and frames on the market, or job openings... ..Word, thanks for the number. Since I called Beck and complained I haven't seen any in the Queens Quay path on the south side of my work.

Just be sure to tell them that the perfect ratio is 16.

Make sure to tell them they need 61cm frames, no matter their height. Then when it doesn't fit, give them my number! :-)

geez. last week someone said that i was "self-righteous" and that i shouldn't say anything since he "wasn't breaking any laws" because i commented that "it's bad enough when car drivers do that" to a cyclist riding with a cell phone. as i passed him on my cruiser bike. buddy was slowin' me down for crissakes. so i told him that i may be self-righteous, but he was being stupid, so at the end of the day i win.

oh and re: e-bikes, i recently saw a lady with one trying to turn around on a path. trying being the operative word since she was having such a difficult time manouvering the thing.

Thanks for the computer tips guys, especially re: wireless I didn't even consider interference being an issue. My friend Luca fron Milan, who I met in Berlin had a good tip. Her put his sensor on his rear wheel so he could still get readings on the rollers (maybe everyone already knew about that I don't know...). As a side note, his track bike was an 80's florescent pink, green, yellow painted Pinarello. It was rather nice.

Re: E-bikes how about this: if you're in the bike lane you must be under your own power. If the motor goes on, you gotta take the lane. Seems reasonable/consistent with the concept of a bike lane to me.

Also, if said E-bike has really big logos on it, Rob is legally obligated to ***** about it on bike forums

Word. That's what I have done on my Lemond. Just have to make sure that the wires are long enough to get back there.

Dan: you gonna be home tonight? I've gotta go run some errands so I could drop my trainer/etc off to you if you like. I assume that was your place where I bumped into you and Toby last week?

I was there at CM on Friday, seemed a little underpar from my recent attendances (the U-turns, one of which could've been done a whole world better on Jarvis ) - the Bloor bridge/viaduct was neat to look at from the front (I was the one on the roadie who sprinted at the front of the pack) and I must admit, the clearing for the ambulance was very impressive and made me feel good that it might take 500 bikes to piss off a couple drivers, but those 500 bikes moved the **** out of the way in a damn hurry when they needed to We had a tail-end issue with the passenger of a cab getting all pissed off at Richmond/Yonge. Nothing lost, but I did have to remind my newcomer friends just to let it go and carry on - trying to deflate tension is the best "Happy Friday"s all 'round.

I just got my helmet-cam delivered... time to start experimenting with that I guess, woo.

5 days off a bike, in need of two rear wheel trues (and spokey-fixey-uppy), but I'm still riding today anyway.

+1 on this too, used it on my roadie exclusively. Now upto around 2100 miles and change (~3380km) since May and still going strong. Only thing to note: no backlight for night/dimlit riding and the mount 'snap' has loosened for me, so it takes conscious effort to clip it back in if I've knocked it or taken it out for a store run.

Nice, let us know if/when you post anything on pootube. If you ever want to film some mtb crashes, just follow me for about 10 minutes. I can almost guarantee something!

Those bars remind me of the Soma "Major Taylor" bars.

Whoa roundtrip Zoom Air flights to Manchester in December/late November are $200 right now! Anyone want to come there with me/ride the velodrome, then go to Milan (cheap inter-Europe flight) meet up with my pal there and watch the film festival?
