+1

I like malcolm and all...but...it seems a bit presumptuous of someone who doesn't have 25 frames under his belt to be teaching anyone. If you are serious go to UBI ...or Yamaguchi....or someone else with serious experience not only building frames but teaching others how to.

somnambulant 02-28-08 09:29 PM

Yeah, I also wouldn't want to ride a frame I built. ;)

Hi. I'm new here.
My name is Dave and I'm an alcoholic.

Flimflam 02-29-08 08:03 AM

Hahaha, hi Dave :) (Dave's my buddy with the left side drive ride he brought to sprints last year, the fateful night of the "operator incident" for those who met him).

That Klunkerz movie was really cool - for me, I'd never even seen what the likes of Gary Fisher/Tom Ritchey/Joe Breeze even looked like - a really cool movie about some very recent history.

I didn't catch all of Still We Ride, but what I did see looked purely *nuts* heh.

Nice to see Fuzz and our resident Dr Benway there, was a chilly night to be out - though it was warmer AFTER the screenings than when we arrived before, go figure.

Brad/zippered - you guys heading to CM tonight?

Post-Mass screening @ Bike Pirates anyone? Details:

FEB 29 after Critical Mass, 7-8pm

Hot Chocolate and food for thought are rewarded to anyone that bikes in the heart of the urban jungle. And if you miss the bike ride, come and partake in a screening of Beijing Bicycle!

@ Location:
457 Bathurst
Street:
Bathurst and College

Welcome Dave.

Guys... in your opinion is the slightly steeper angles in a more agressive frame really that noticable?
Have any of you ridden/have both?

jeremywhitehorn 02-29-08 11:27 AM

i like it - a shame he didn't go with the wide tires though...

duppy.conqueror 02-29-08 11:35 AM

ya sweet ride...

I immediately thought of that thing tearing thru the don trails!

jeremywhitehorn 02-29-08 11:39 AM

who made that? where'd you find that photo?

somnambulant 02-29-08 11:41 AM

Clearly someone with way too much time/money on their hands. "Why" is I believe a more appropriate question.

duppy.conqueror 02-29-08 11:44 AM

its in the 'Your Fixed Gear/SS Photos! ' thread...

duppy.conqueror 02-29-08 11:49 AM

nice...wow...that bike is all ti! must be mad lite!

jeremywhitehorn 02-29-08 11:57 AM

if you could raise the bars and put a brake on it, it would be a very usable bike i think.

I_bRAD 02-29-08 12:10 PM

It's pretty, but I don't think fixed and mountain bike really go together.

jeremywhitehorn 02-29-08 12:19 PM

no, but mountain-bike-frame-as-commuter goes together i think.

I_bRAD 02-29-08 12:20 PM

totally. That one in particular only if you're bringing it in with you!

duppy.conqueror 02-29-08 12:22 PM

I wonder how much it weighs?

I_bRAD 02-29-08 01:08 PM

My mtb is fixed, or did you mean fixed mtb for trails.

Anyway awesome looking bike, serious saddle to bar drop though. I thought my bike was pretty severe.

I_bRAD 02-29-08 01:44 PM

yeah, I meant for the trails.

Flimflam 02-29-08 02:25 PM

Sexy bike, love the 'urban' look, great non-descript colour. I love how those bars look, but as pyze said - that saddle/bar drop looks a 'tad' aggressive :p For cruising/bombing around that seems cool, personally I don't trail ride much anyway and the thought of a FG in the trails doesn't enthuse me at all (though now I think about it, it's probably pretty sweet, proper ratio assumed)

Flimflam 02-29-08 02:50 PM

Possible dumb question here: is there an actual difference between a rear and front road caliper? I'm looking at getting the Shimano BR-5501 caliper for my build, but the front is out of stock, rear is not where I was looking - so it made me wonder what the actual difference is between the two.

i'd love one if you've got one!

TRaffic Jammer 02-29-08 03:25 PM

Matt is ticketed. One left.

somnambulant 02-29-08 03:39 PM

I'm going to Ottawa next weekend for a friend's baby shower, so I'm likely gonna hit the show on Friday. So, let me know when's a convenient time to pick it up. Or are you gonna drop them all off at Ye Olde Bike Jointe?

Also, while I hope that Spring bike show = Spring weather, I'm trying not to anticipate that actually being reality.

Front caliper bolt is longer (to bolt thru fork, as opposed to smaller brake bridge). Usually, anyway.
