Ha ha! What a beautiful baby!

fixedude 09-25-07 09:28 PM

jeez, the CA under-23 team had their rigs stolen at the world championships. rather nice of gerolsteiner to provide them loaners, though.

Ok I'm not sure if I'm going to go to Milan in December anymore but... who wants to go with me to see the track world championships in Manchester in March? Woo! Then spend a couple/few days in Berlin and visit Toby/friends from Berlin?

Also anyone have any info on TV coverage of the World Championships this week? It would appear that OLN will not be covering it. Is there any way to get Eurosport here? And why have I not looked into that before...

The only cycling you see on tv here is the Tour, the Olympics, the X-Games and Ride Guide (mtn biking). :) I think your best option is to try and find a euro tv stream/torrent, or to use www.cycling.tv.

Great pics of the newborn, congrats again - that's awesome to see (my daughter is 2.5, I still remember those early days well :))

Using real numbers to describe your kids age - priceless :)

That's a shame... but c'mon, 50Grand worth of bikes in a van overnight in a hotel parking lot? If they're gonna pull a move like that they might as well just have left them at the airport.

I wonder if the van had a sign in the window saying "free bikes inside" or if it just had dollar signs painted on the side.

Anyhoo... traffic is mental today! *wolf howl*

It's no different than what all the teams do, afaik. Unless of course they can afford security folks, but I'm somewhat surprised the Canadian team can even afford to get to Europe in the first place.

ps. I guess mountain biking is out tonight on account of the rain. Saturday is gonna be painful. I haven't been on an offroad ride since I injured my elbow on Labour Day weekend! Oh well, no pain, no gain. :P

strong canadian dollar + good deal on ebay + seller writes really low value on customs form and wes' doesn't get dinged == ftw!

You can take your bikes into the hotel room! I've done it plenty.

Seriously- how many times have you heard about stuff getting stolen from vans at a hotel- sports equipment, music equipment- whatever.

It's a hotel so everyone there is transient. People piling/rearranging/unloading cars is completely unremarkable behaviour. All someone has to do is watch you go in for the night and wait an hour and then nobody's gonna say a thing while they act like they own your stuff and nobody bats an eyelash. Heck, if you pick on the foreigners there's even less of a risk to the thief!

With no pedals and only one crank arm I can totally agree!

Speaking of the U23 World's, this guy has the best name: "Dutchman Lars Boom is determined to continue his cyclo-cross career despite claiming gold in the men's under-23 time-trial at the world road race championships in Stuttgart on Wednesday. The 21-year-old, who won the under-23 title at this year's world cyclo-cross championships, completed the 38.1 km course in a time of 48:57.93."

Those look like nice well thought out bikes. Which one are you considering? A ton of options for the discriminating 29er rider. On aother note my Kula 29er will be here today! YAY!

There was a guy riding the S.I.R.9 at the Hot August Nights 24-hr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/wes/1270400136/). Really beautiful frame, especially in orange.. love the eccentric bb. That guy's build was über bling too. I wish one of the Scandium frames had that bb setup to have an easy method of running the frame SS or geared.

Right now it's a toss-up between the AIR9 and the EMD9 ... kinda depends on what the rest of the build will come out at. The steel frames are actually the most expensive, so unfortunately they're out of consideration. Ask me again in a week and I might have changed my mind to the ti 29er Niner is announcing today at Interbike. Who knows what that'll run though.

Stupid ****ing nicotine patches have been making my whole shoulder ache ... kind of scary when you think about it.
