Don't buy anything until you've checked out the deals next weekend at the fall bike show. I got my open pros at the spring show for 2fer. (50 each)

Tight mini ramps and bowls were my thing! I kinda did it backwards and came from boogeyboarding/snowboarding to skating so I was always more comfortable carving corners and lips than flatground flippystuff.

I'm all for hitting up a skatepark w/ anyone who's up for it... although i find myself more likely to bring the longboard than a trick deck (still terrifies me since I blew out my ankle)... They day that I found out that I can drop into vert with the long stick was a wonderful day indeed.
The Bathurst / Dundas park is fun times, and there's a hockey rink adjacent which is fun for flatland.

I have 2 functional boards although one is from the really tiny era so it's pretty hard to ride. Especially if you're tall like me. I'd be down for a skater meet...although I did drag them out a couple of years ago and pretty much all I could do was drop in

That's scary too. Biggest I "rode" was a 12footer with 2' extensions. I say "rode" cause I intended to drop in when I got to the top all I saw was coping and flat and I couldn't commit. I ended up just pumping the walls to get to the top but there were some crazy riders there that were pulling wicked air.

Seems they've tightened up the transitions on ramps these days. My old fave was a 3 footer which was 3- 8' masonite sheets in a row. No vert, one sheet for each transition and one for the flat (and then build as wide as you like- usually 3 (12') wide). It was a perfect combo for me (although the long flat and 3' height meant no mistakes or you've lost your momentum)

The last time I skated the Ollie hadn't been invented yet. I gave my 70's ALVA to my nephew who used it for a year before he busted it into kindling.

^^^^ still have my original Alva Fred Smith shirt^^^I no longer rip it up on a stick!! Banned for life. One wrong move and I'm off to kneesurgeryland. I would still like to carve a long board, and really want to try dry land luging in the spring. Wiping out on the bad ramp had that nice smooth tranny to slide back in on, those tight ones..man. Sketch a landing and slap on flat!!!! FFwwaappt! OW!

Steve Rocco was the first skater to try and become his own enterprise instead of letting the moneymen make all the scratch.

If that guy was red headed with huge tattooed arms, that was likely Jeff Adams - world champion and paraolympian. That's the dude who gave me the Cervelo tour. Did you check out the hubs? They're a totally revolutionary design that the big C will be releasing for both the racing chairs he's developing and apparently the bikes as well.

Average time to build a Deep-V wheel.....1.5 hours. Time to build a DT wheel...30 minutes. This stuff is so good it almost builds itself!
