Single-Speeded my Kona 29er yesterday....well 2 speeds actually. 36-16 to get to the trail and 34-18 once I get there. Don't even have to mess with my chain tension to switch over...Nice. 20lbs even. I am stoked! That is all.

Moving to vancouver? Traitor!

At least they ended w/ the two empowered/positive viewpoints.

Truvative Elita (speaking from personal experience):
- Check the non-drive arm regularly. Even when torqued to the proper spec and thread-locked they can (and do) come loose.
- I didn't trust the big ring (circa 2006, 130BCD, 53T - I could flex the chain off it in a sprint regularly).
- The driveside arms are prone to coming unbonded from the integrated axle and ruining the cranks.
- The cranks look different for '08. Maybe that means they changed the decals and reshaped the arms slightly to change up the aesthetics. Maybe it means they made real functional improvements. I don't know yet.

FSA Gossamer (personal experience again):
- I like the pinch bolt design. Follow the (quite high) torque specs and thread lock the bolts. The torque specs are probably higher than you'd go to if you were doing it by hand (even knowing what I just wrote). I'd recommend buying/borrowing/taking it somewhere for installation.
- A couple years ago the Gossamer chainrings (http://www.gottaridebikes.com/Mercha...er_megaexo.jpg) were **** (flexy like the Elitas, shifted terribly) and apparently you could ask FSA to send out replacements. The new cranks (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/I...Full/10290.jpg <-- this logo) work just dandy.
- I've seen no issue in general with the bottom brackets. I've actually seen no specific issue w/ the bottom brackets other than one bike where a plastic seal was broken during assembly and shipped out. Blame some dude in Taiwan for that though. That applies to Cycle Therapy bikes. I can't speak for other bikes because I don't know how well they were built up in the first place.
