I'd like to meet this guy who rides with that bar drop and seat angle. Loving the fully raised quill with 5" drop bars as well.

Dropped by the Ex. but only met one guy there (Jessie), we hung around for 5 minutes and figured it was called.. On the way west we did a sprint from just before the S/F line to the lights. I got dusted... badly

Now I definitely need to clean the poor thing.. and a saddle change to boot!

haha have you ever met Tofu? How about a little more drop, a drop stem and track drops. And he actually uses the drops sometimes. And he's really damn fast. Go figure.

Yeah, I was going to say that seat to bar drop isn't really that outrageous to me either. I have total gorilla arms!

some of the pics of the racers climbing boulders and small cliffs are pretty wild!

I've got the one where the guys are climbing up the embankment and dude's pulling a dog out of the way as my background image now. Some of those shots are absolutely horrifying ... just the brutality of the obstacles the riders have to get through/over/around.

Coffee nerds represent Green beanery is awesome, but I buy the cheap stuff there -- not that I want to start a debate about the fairness of fair trade.

As for manic -- I was suggesting to operator the other day that we (UofT-centric people) should go for a lunchtime coffee ride over there/around the area one of these days. Interested?

me too but i still wouldn't want to have that much drop and have all my weight resting on my hands. a longer stem, fine but all that drop seems a bit much, especially with the quill stem near the top of it's limit.

What's everyone shopping for at the bike show? I am personally in need of:

2 - 12-25 9 speed cassettees
2 - pair of quick release skewers
1 - 118mm ISIS bottom bracket

Then there is the long list of 'well maybe if..."

Bikes: 70s Leader Precision w/Shimano 600 (road), IRO Rob Roy (Fixed)

Show shopping list:
Rims / hubs / wheelsets and just about everything else for my IRO build (BB, cranks, handlebars, seatpost, stem, front brake assembly)
Tyres
clothing (everything, I have no bike-centric kit)

Budget is limited, so my priorities are wheels/rims/hubs. Anything else is a bonus.

Where/when are we meeting for it?

Yeah I think actually the combination of significant drop, combined with long stem and bullhorns (which are deep drop as well) is what makes it seem a bit stretched. I actually think if he had drops on there it wouldn't be as ridiculous. I also have long arms. Of the knuckle dragger variety.

For the bike show:

-Helmet
-Don't need anything else but will inevitably buy things that are cheap

i'm planning to go early, because i know there'll be a line up... and it's everyone for themselves...

i am in desperate need of a *good* pair of shorts, and by good i mean the pearl izumi ones i've been searching for. i could go into a big rant, but really without seeing me flailing my arms, it's no good. i'm also in desperate need of a helmet, since mine should have been replaced ages ago. my raleigh needs a saddle, kickstand, and grips. otherwise, i'll be scanning for deals on lighting/reflective stuff, and whatever other replacement stuff i can afford. oh yeah, and rain pants, damnit!

ps. hello everyone... i've been in lurker mode the last few days.

pps. i too have long arms! came in handy when i used to box. sucks for buying long-sleeved shirts/jackets. i wonder if there's some sort of long-reach gene/trend for cyclists? lol

I have short everything. That is all.

Also- if anyone is up for gelato ride-about tonight, I'm actually free for once!

I just remembered a funny story from Home Ec class in Elementary school. We were making sweatshirts and our teacher was giving us some pointers about tweaking the fit of the shirts from the instructions. She asked us "So when you are making a shirt for a girl or boy what differences should there be?" We were all like "huh?" but also of course being 13 thought it was incredibly funny that she asked us the difference between girls and boys. Then she said as if she had expected us to know "oh well girls on average have longer arms". That was news to me!

I'm down, unless I end up going to the Walkmen show (not 100% sure yet). I'm heading out now, drop me a line if it's a go.

I hear that! It's also a big reason why I like a lot of cycling clothes off the bike as well... they're usually cut slimmer/longer which means they actually fit me properly.

Gelato = potentially. What time were you thinking?

Guys - re: the sprints

1) Geared bikes allowed?
2) What's the distance on the sprint? 100m? 200m? Straight?
