Ok guys here's the deal for tomorrow's "consolation ride" for those of us not up to the epic 9 hour journey taking place at dawn :D
Shamil, myself and whoever feels inclined to ride for 2-3 hours are going to meet at Jet Fuel in the 8:00 - 8:30 range. The route is open to suggestion at this point, although I'm thinking of going east simply because we can get some hills/varied terrain without going too far. Hope to see some of yous there. C'mon Jeremy you can't be THAT tired after work :) |
Not sure about tomorrow but Ryan and I were talking about rolling around a little on Sunday seeing as the forecast looks pretty good.
|
|
Have a good ride guys, wind was brutal heading west tonight. Legs don't feel ready for 1776 stairs, but they'll have to be... Eggbeater SLs confirmed, will be installed tomorrow :D
|
have fun tomorrow flimflam - don't worry too much about the stairs. i did that climb and it only took me 13 mins (in cycling shoes). it's not as bad as you think. waiting in line to get down is another story...
i don't think i will be riding tomorrow morning; yes Dan i am THAT tired (re: drunk) after work. on the upside, it looks like i have sun-tues off if any of you shiftworking lads (Dan, Brad) want to get out for a leg stretcher... |
I can possibly get out for a ride on monday!
|
CX practice at Bickford Park 8:30-9:30 if anyone feels like getting filthy.
|
ugh.. so I guess everyone's already gone on their rides and wes' alarm didn't go off (which he set in a drunken stupor) so he's still at home (and feeling just a little like anus). :)

I should be up for some riding in the Sun. - Tues. range for sure.
Ride today was a blast! |
I wound up doing a really fun solo ride in the Don on my cross bike. I was totally surprised at how well it rolled through there. The only sketchy stuff were a couple really steep descents (I missed my disc brakes) and some roots covered in leaves. I can't help but want to try out a 29'er now... it just felt like I had so much more momentum today on the big wheels. Add a touch more cushion/traction and it would be killer.
|
OK totally not related to anything bike but since this is such a diverse group I figure I might as well ask. I need to find a GOOD and AFFORDABLE renovation type person or company to fix my bathroom. Bathtub, tiles, etc. Nothing fancy, just good workmanship at a fair price. Anyone have any suggestions for people they know and trust?
Yes Mike Holmes has made me paranoid :D |

Bluffs 2.0
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2010/...45b1c7.jpg?v=0 So windy.... Check http://www.flickr.com/photos/83074031@N00/ for more bluffs and a few D.S.R. Edit: I have also added some photobooth photos of my prof. Glen Norcliffe's Wood Bros #64!?!?! 1868... brass on steel baby! These wheels aren't orig. but he has em. Bought recently in Philly. He said that he was going to get a Mariposa for his retirement.... So I approached his office thinking that I was going to see it.. I got this. Wow. He also has a few Penny Farthings as well. Amazing. |
hahahaha wicked ride today guys...farthest ive been in a while...and man that Bike Specialties store was doooooooooope...that mariposa pursuit track was soooooooooo sweet. you guys owned that bluffs hill i still cant get over how you guys plowed up it like it was flat! good job!

Ha ha. Great pics. Did the Kennedy-Rouge valley loop this morning: http://www.bikerally.org/trainingmap...ougeValley.pdf
A nice jaunt although that wind did suxors |
Sounds like everyone had a great ride today!
I've always wanted to check out bicycle specialties... Our ride ended up being 11 hours on account of the wind (7 of actually pedaling), but the route is a good one! The "short" loop wouldn't be worth it as the section from cheltenham to belfountain is by far the best part. Grabbed 5lbs of super primo++ organic garlic on the way up there at some shack. Badlands were awesome and the downhill with the wind on the way home was a nice treat. :) The colours were a couple weeks past the peak, but nice nonetheless. The only thing about that route that sucks was getting into and out of missisauga... not too bad on a weekend, but definitely wouldn't try it on a work day. |

Nice pics guys, sounds like everyone had a good ride :) My ride was limited to going to the CN Tower and back today ;) At least I smashed my record again. I'm not as elite as you, Jeremy, but I got 15:55 this time. Still didn't run any of it, but my cardio was the let-down - legs didn't feel as though I'd done anything other than a bit of warm-up griping they did in the first 30-40 flights.
Next climb will be tougher to get a new PB, I better start treating myself a bit better and build some strength up :) Oh yeah, anyone have any tips for pedal removal when they're toighter than a toiger? I've got my drive-side off, but the left is being a stubborn little *****, I've WD-40d it to try and loosen anything off in there, too. I've been wedging a thick screwdriver between the other crank and frame to try and get leverage but it's not moved enough for me to get it loose, and the parktool site is down with their tips! I've been using both a pedal wrench and allen key. Edit: and yeah, I'm turning it the right way (anti-clockwise for left, IIRC - I must've got it right, as I undid the driveside - and that's a clockwise un-do, the backwards way). |
Anyone have an 18T bmx freewheel I can borrow for Monday? I can pick it up tomorrow evening or Monday morning if that works and bring it back whenever. Lemmie know.
