A very good CTV spot as well. Highlighted Charlie well, Thoby and 'tino did good spots. A very positive bit of coverage.

Anyone know of an online spot we can view said clip?

I don't care how repetitive it is; great to see everyone. Amazing turn out. I ended up riding with Thoby back into Cabbagetown and up the street they grew up on - Sackville. Him and some friends were on their way to visit Charlie and he had an ear to ear grin.

Not yet. I'll see what I can find out.

Seconded. I will attempt to adopt Dan+ attitude going forward when dealing with ******tards.

@Dan: Glad to hear you were treated well.

SamHouston 08-18-07 09:14 AM

That was a good turn out for Charlie. Someone said it looked like 150+ on the ride? I saw a few of you guys while waiting for my wife to arrive, I got there way too early, like 5:30, got hyped up on hot chocolate and missed the start of the ride due to an extended safety meeting held in his honour on the back porch.

Someone came out at 6:30 and said yall were leaving and we all came out to get on our bikes then someone said it'd be 7pm or after so we went back out back as it was standing room only in the front! Big crowd! Then everyone left! Instead of chasing you down we got regular phone reports each time you changed direction, so we sat there calculating the average speed of the group based on those, imagining the progress down Queen was probably pissing the drivers off, unless they could see that black flag, I'd be most people were respectful, specially since it seemed the riders were too.

Sorry I missed the ride, we left JF as you guys were east bound Queen, and I came out to find just 20lbs of air in my back tire. I pumped it up to 40lbs or so with my brokeass pump and the wife and I hobbled over to Sneaky Dees for nachos and beer, best memorial ride I've ever missed.

For those who are interested self help/improvement seminars by Dan "danpositive" Baston will be available by the author after he returns from his extensive fact finding tour of Europe and the Sub-Continent. Cost will be $500 for a scintillating hour long tasting...I mean discussion of life improvement techniques. Make cheques payable to IneednewCampytrackcranks productions.

Last night = great.

Cam's fall = spectacular.

Me = hungover ... going out for round two again tonight. Work on Sunday should be interesting.

I've slowly been liquidating witnesses; I guess I missed a couple. I'm not sure how I ended up with road rash on both sides of my body, but I did. More importantly the Ciocc is fine.

Are you still high on intravenous pain killers?

*with fingers, peeling the carrot*

Apparently you are also on intravenous painkillers.

Well, from what I saw you were veering right, caught your front wheel, your body kept moving and then you started to go over onto your right side but *almost* unclipped in time, so then as soon as your foot tapped down you went over and did a shoulder roll of sorts on your left shoulder (into that other person's bike who really didn't get hard - don't sweat their wheel, they had time/room to move).

Edit: and seriously, stupid crashed archived for the ages? Right here: http://flickr.com/photos/wes/1583641...7594081307898/

Definitely a good turnout and a good ride!

Where abouts on Sackville? It would be very spooky if he lived in the same place I did!

Also, do you know where the grave is?

I think I veered right across the track and straightened out too soon and dropped back in the rut. Yeah the woman behind me was Jordan who works at Yasi's. I left her my name and email in case. I suspect it was her brake rather than her rim (pretty fragile rims otherwise).

I particularly like your Planet of the Apes expression as you are heading over in that pic. Damn dirty ape...

<<edit>> Happy birthday Mike!

I'd also like to know where Charlies' grave is. Last nights ride didn't help me get too much closer to closure, so maybe a grave side visit would help.

A graveside safety meeting/group visit would be cool I think.

cavit8 08-18-07 05:46 PM

Cavernmech.... $72 for a set of Continental Attack/Force front/rear tires from pbk, free shipping and slipped by duty charges (although it may come in the mail later). Compare at $69 each ($138 for the set) from Velotique. Good thing I got two sets. At 450 tpi for the rear, I'm hoping these bad boys will last a while. I have no idea how pbk can sell at that kind of margin.

I'll be spending some time on the Pinarello this weekend and will likely come by the shop to get the stem finalized mid week. That and I didn't grab the manuals that came with the Campy stuff.

<edit> I agree Brad. I think Charlie would enjoy our company.

sweep242 08-18-07 06:00 PM

Mike happy birthday! CHEERS

Dan good luck has to come your way! I’m sure.

Cam good thing you’re not too dinged up to ride that other bike is it done? Did you use the xero wheels? Hmm.

cavit8 08-18-07 06:09 PM

Yes! I ended up using the Xero's even though they have a Shimano freehub. I got this thing called a JTek Shiftmate and put an Ultegra cassette on it. Works dandy with the campy shifters. Just need to dial in the stem height and then it's a wrap.

I_bRAD 08-18-07 06:49 PM

Dan: Get well soon!

Anyone: Up for a ride Monday? I'm thinking maybe MTB in the Don or a fast road ride.

Fuzzz 08-18-07 09:32 PM

anyone post any pictures from friday's ride?
