Bikes: Menonite black urbanite, probably enough spare parts to make anther one.
happy b-day sweep! how many is that?
yeah, i like the look of the brakes. i've only ever heard of them from a few years ago when lance rode them on a TT stage of the tour because they were more "aero". i don't know about that; i'm going to put them on my 80's road bike for long distance riding.

Sweep!Great job on the pics Matt! Yesterday morning was such a blast! It was cool how nice all of the actual 'racer' types were. Especially Rico, who brought a ton of tools and parts and loaned me a wheel so I could change up my gear. He also gave me some helpful sprint technique tips which was great. There was a great vibe for sure. Good times! The "road" race wasn't the best for me last night though. My bad shoulder started to get sore. My endurance is still kinda crap post-injury too. There were parts of the race that were really fun though! Like the first part when I wasn't in pain. And I always love climbing the bluffs! Yeah. It was really cool that the distance was made up by going far east and west, instead of being stuck downtown/going up Yonge st. or whatever. Good times at the party and even better at the after party. The police were everywhere last night. It was crazy. They pulled a bunch of people over and at the Jet Fuel checkpoint, there was a cruiser and the cop was giving the checkpoint people a hard time. CRAZY

I've posted up some more pics from the Bull Run - mostly before & after... in fact, pretty much entirely before & after.

Actually just after I left the start an unmarked police car blasted past going the opposite direction on Harbord. I was wondering if it was related.

It was quite uneventful for Keith and I stationed at Yonge and Bloor. I enjoyed seeing friends come through. Once Nadir called the rider meeting I jetted to a gallery show and concert. I hope the drama didn't ruin the good vibes of the party. I guess these issues are just the nature of the beast that is competition.

So, is this whiney Chris guy a local? Or out of towner? I'm guessing the latter from the sounds of things, but I'm just curious.

Wish I could have made it out for all the activities yesterday. Glad people had fun, not glad there was stupid drama.

He is a local. A talented racer (he rode for AJ/CS this year...moving to La Bicicletta next...good riddance) no doubt, but there was no excuse for the way he acted. I liked the part where as everyone was hmming and hawwing about what should happen, he was grabbing his bike to leave. This was when Rico and Ted pleaded their case for him...the decision was made to give him the win....so he snatches his prize from Nadir and walks out of the party like a little child taking his toys from the sandbox. As was already mentioned....a sad way to end off an otherwise excellent event. I wish it was "Keith the Hardass" making these decisions at the end...I would have had him wrestle the "harmonica dude"...best 2 out of 3 falls for the right to leave with all his chicklets intact. Huge props to Nadir for being the ever humble ambassador in a otherwise untenable situation.

Totally O/T: I just got on joox.net to see if there were any new movies/etc and saw a strange yet cool music video posted up on the homepage. I was watching it thinking "that looks like Stockholm", but not sure whether the dude was speaking Swedish or not. Then saw the big central square.. def Stockholm.
I'm kinda digging that London/Euro hiphop stuff, from what I've heard in recent years. A lot of it sounds more like it has roots in the rave/electronic scene vs. the american hiphop scene.

Sounds like a bummer end to a fun night. Props to everyone who showed up to cheer the riders on or work a checkpoint. Your hearts were in the right place at least.
So ... I read the blog postings linked here ... but still haven't figured out why the race got called. Any ideas?
