Absolutely, at least for a little bit.

Sound editor for Mac that's not Logic ... Audacity (it's open source) or something else?

I use Audacity for waveform editing. I used to use Garageband for recording, but now use Logic. Audacity should be perfect if you're just trimming/stretching/etc waveforms (i.e. not working with multi-channel audio, etc).

for anyone not riding on sunday but still wishing to get their daily dose of exercise and heavy lifting, feel free to come by my place and help me move boxes and furniture into my new place. of course payment will be rendered in pizza and beer (and any components i'm still attempting to part with - which reminds me i still have some tires and various miscellany).

I haven't seen any bike messengers here, scooters seem to rule the roads here (red lights stand for 'go' here, along with yellow and green)

Other cities might be different, I have only been to Milan so far. I know its pretty big in London England.

Try to loot a Cinelli Mystic Rats. That is one sweet bike. Mainly because it's Cinelli. Mainly because its FG/SS.

Yes yes and more yes! Thanks for the heads-up - see you tomorrow? I need to get this bike on the road. It would be awesome to grab that sweater as well.

urbane cyclist on the cbc radio right now...talking about toronto being a hostile cycling environment.

jet sanchEz 05-27-08 09:20 AM

Weird, I always think that Toronto is a pretty good cycling city. I only have a few other cities to compare it with but, for a city of it's size, Toronto is pretty good; maybe I am being naive?

TRaffic Jammer 05-27-08 09:21 AM

Naive? naw.. I don't think so. Considering the size of our fair city, I think we're not so bad. Compare us to other cities of similar size and we're doing pretty good overall, I think.

jeremywhitehorn 05-27-08 09:43 AM

this was in relation to commuting so perhaps the point was that it is hostile to people who are new to cycling on city streets.

iherald 05-27-08 09:51 AM

I was looking at the jersey's for Rock & Republic cycling team. I think they look pretty cool. But I went to the site and they're charging $180 for a jersey. That's pretty crazy. Bibs are a good deal at $220.

TRaffic Jammer 05-27-08 09:57 AM

In that regard if you aren't experienced already, I can see that point. I have a buddy who's started riding in and he won't go ANYWHERE there isn't a bike path.

I can still remember avoiding the Danforth and Bloor for a long time (I'd go north to Cosburn when I lived in the east end, or use Kingston Rd), and even King/Queen (I chose Richmond or Adelaide instead) with the tracks put me off for a long time - just the hassles of all the activity and stuff to look for that I wasn't trained for at all - back then (3 years now, wow) I didn't commute every day and had a metropass for bail outs, too though :)

Friends I have just won't ride on the roads because they're very intimidated by them - despite being drivers themselves, it's just frightening I guess - something I can totally understand. Road surfaces are a pain in the ass, but I think you just grow thicker and thicker skin as experience comes into play with traffic/peds/whatever - I may curse and yell a blue streak still at some things, but it's momentary - I vent, get over it and ride on.

I've long thought about how to bridge the road safety/biking gap, and really it's all down to education on all sides I think - folks on bikes and in cars just need to be less assholish and respect other peoples right on the road. Pedestrians seem to think they don't need any road awareness, that's a different ballgame altogether.

Plus the Michael Ball ******baggery quotient, which is off the charts.

lol, that's great.

Another note, I went to Big Fat Burrito last night and one of the guys there hollered at me needing a pump for this beater in the back, so I got a free burrito for some kitchen-side assistance despite later noticing there was no axle bolt on the one side. Totally groovy experience, and as with my previous visit, the burrito was superb (so much food in fact that it was bursting out of the wrap). Props to BFB :thumb:

Shoes are a bit too big I think, but I'm interested in the jacket for sure - I'll be heading to Old Mill tonight (around 6:30/7) for a bit, I can swing by on my way there or back, when is a good time?

Flimflam 05-27-08 10:39 AM

Sweet OK, thanks. How late is too late for you? I'm not sure when I'll be on my way back, but it won't be much past 9 or 10 I don't think, and I hate calling people too late.

Size 46 for me please if you have them. Actually I'll give you a call as well.
