At 70bucks they're not cheap, but cheaper than new wheels and about the same as another ulock.

The locking tool does slip a bit sometimes, but apparently you're not supposed to crank them down that hard anyhow. No problems with rust yet although I just put mine on this spring. The key doubles as a bottle opener should the need arise.

So'd you and Derek get dumped on? I made it as far as Davenport before mother nature dropped trau.

I got a bit of a sprinkle on, but that's just fine with me after sweating it out all day. I missed the "real" rain I'd say. It's only a 10-15min ride home for me :)

operator 07-08-08 06:11 PM

Those pinheads are good for securing stuff - if you have QR axles.

The "key" is a problem, it's about 1-1.5" long so you'll have a **** hard time getting any sort of reasonable clamping force if you don't have vert dropouts.

Seats, cranks and bars can still be stolen with both systems. And pedals. Basically if you lock your bike anywhere you're taking a chance either way.

No rain for me today, hopped on the go train.... went past a bunch of stuff that was heavily t-storming, got up to the hill and it was perfectly dry up here. woopee!

I've had a couple of 28 non Kevlars and bought these two 23 kevlar ultra sports, the 28s were fine (I'd be running the first still had it not been torn by a blowout from overinflation) - the other 23 I put on my buddies bike and haven't heard anything, so it could be just this one for me. *shrug*

Re: pitlocks, interesting - I'd not heard of anything like that before. Novel, but not something I'm interested in so much.

Just got back from Wal-Mart at the AIM and endured a good portion of the initial downpour walking over there (I was picking up a mecha-size pack of ***** tickets so knew it'd be tricksy biking that without a trailer). Ended up cabbing it back as it was still coming down, ah well.

I think it's time to get another pair of sit'n'spins

Edit: Anyone have leads on TDF stage torrents?

did you shart'n'split?

FWIW, mine are wearing out too ... the chrome ones are made a little better, but the material is heavier and they tend to end lower than they should, which is a problem for anyone with bottle cages, as the ends of the manpri's catch the WB cage.

hate to sound like a mooch, but would anyone in/around the downtown core happen to have an old/spare 1" threaded stem kicking around that they can loan me til the weekend? i managed to warp mine last nite and i finished the job by completely mangling it today in attempts to fix it.

Thanks to all, yes it is my birthday. Bought myself a new frame as a present to me with some b-day cash I received:D. Going to become the summer bike and in the winter the beater shall be reactivated.

Probably going to get a headset, fork and crank as well. Free shipping in the U.S. to my friends in Buffalo, prices are too good to pass up.

iherald 07-09-08 10:55 AM

My ipod died and I'm having to work without distractions. I went to Pandora but it seems to be down with engineering issues. Any other sites like that I can use to distract myself from the thoughts of "boy it's a nice day for a ride..."

What size do you need? I have a couple spares I can check sizes on tonight. Both are black.

Nice, Pyze :) Are you going SS 'cross with that?

MattRennick 07-09-08 12:15 PM

Nice build, fella! IMHO a fork with a little less rake would be nice (not like you asked, ha!) but it's a solid / classy lookin' bicycle.

Thanks, Oh yeah no doubt. Don't think I haven't been looking. If anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear. Steel noni track? -pretty hard to get these days though now that it's all carbon.
