I'll always remember how commonplace it was to have your mirror smashed off in traffic.

That and bumpers literally used as bumpers/battering rams when parking.

Back from Ottawa... woo. Highway 37 upto Hwy 7 has some beautiful scenery to ride through, really changed my opinion of "old rolling hills boring farmland" Ontario (no I didn't ride this time, I was on the Greyhound :) - 4.5 days without being on a bike is very weird)

Thanks Jeremy for that early pickup, if you've anything still left let me know...

Hope you're all good for the 1st, Pyze - heal up!

Decided to ride at lunch to find a flat, wtf methinks - was fine this morning, I shall have to closely inspect the rim, boo-urns for pre-hometime flat :(

I'm trying to aim for the memorial ride tonight, I've got to fix a flat, 33 miles to cover and a post office to visit beforehand though :p

If you've seen No Country For Old Men, this is gold: http://fourthgradegladiators.com/awesome/?p=7. Probably wouldn't be nearly as funny if you haven't sweated through the normal version, however. :)

Flimflam 05-21-08 12:06 PM

Also ouch/lol at the chainbreak/after-incident.

Anyone else going to this? http://www.bellsonbloor.ca - I'll probably go, if I have my wee munchkin I'll bring her along too.

Hey was that your bike I spotted, locked up to a rack near the campus security/library entrance? The one with the front wheel removed?

jeremywhitehorn 05-21-08 09:07 PM

hey shop guys - do any of you carry the Brooks "flyer" saddle in honey brown? if so, what's the current selling price?

That's awesome!

Also: my super cheap deal$ of the day:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3286/...1a91214674.jpg

Craftsman 15mm stubby to fit in the seat bag - $2.99 ordered from sears.ca.
Planet bike "Peace Pump" mini-pump - $8.50 surprise find @MEC -- not something I would use daily, but only 74g when tossed in my bag, and looks like it'll do the trick in an emergency.

I'll check and see if we have one at the shop. MSRP is $120.00 and hopefully someone has one in stock locally - the main supplier of Brooks stuff is out of stock of a lot of Brooks stuff right now, Flyers being one of the items.

Herbie_Glick 05-22-08 06:20 AM

Don't have one here.

Wire mesh over the nozzle, drill a hole through the piston, store combustibles in the folding handle?:thumb:

<nerd>

I keep getting a bit giggly every time I learn a new function in Actionscript, Javascript, PHP, etc. because I've been thinking of them almost like DND spells. WIZARDRY! ... *sigh*

there's a b17 on craigslist if you're up for some deviation.

of course i don't know the difference between the two saddles, so...

TRaffic Jammer 05-22-08 01:54 PM

It became LESS of a back killer? FReaky.. that said I'd not say no it in my size dropped off on my doorstep. I'd take it in ..

So cool, was this taken at a CM? Very neat little car.

TRaffic Jammer 05-22-08 02:47 PM

 Did I say I loved my helmet cam? Riding down the yellow line on Yogne from Bloor to work, this guy tries to punch me.
Epic fail and most likely would have broken his arm had he connected, you know physics and all that. BUT I do have his plate on video. Assault anyone?

You still wearing those gloves w/ the carbon knuckles? That could have led to a painful surprise for him.

TRaffic Jammer 05-22-08 03:30 PM

the glove portion of those are shredded ... need to rebuild them or move the knuks to a different set of riding gloves.
I know it would have hurt like hell had he connected but I think our momentum and the fact he's flat butted and leaning back vs my leaning forward, he'd have come really close to tearing his arm off., at the very least completely destroying his shoulder. Was a first for Toronto for me though, and I caught it on cam.
