For the cross-curious amongst us, I strongly encourage you to come out to the Midweek Club's tuesday night practice sessions in Centennial Park. They start up on Tuesday, Sep 2nd and start at around 6:30. The vibe is super relaxed. The whole idea is to give everyone practice working on whatever skills they need and there are always lots of people around with lots of great advice (besides Craig Fagan, ironically, who is a total ******.. right Keith?). Come on out on whatever ride you have.. don't think you need a CX bike to come out to a cross race for a good time. I started out on my MTB and Keith actually rode about half of last year's races on his 29er. http://www.cyclocrossontario.com/node/721 |

When it comes, it come gratuitously. Said yo' momma. SNAP. TOfixed has to be the best community around here, I concur wholeheartedly. Between the useful advice, piles of help, and bits and bobs people happily throw around, its like family. And operators a s00pertr077!!! He makes little kids cry all the time, and I love him for it ;). re:cross: My trail rig has turned into a monster, but Im feeling pretty game this season. Unfortunately I work nights a lot so I may be deuced on the practise sessions. However you all know I drop a line before I head out, so for you schedule challenged, we can form a random group and iron some stuff out/teach each other stuff. And thx much for the cross updates som, keep'em coming! |

Nice. I have a hybrid that might work ok for that. I'm definately gonna try and make the trips out.
Incidentally I may have some extra, worn but still usable knobbly tires lying around. Goes for anyone, just ask, Ill look. (best for borrowing if you wanna try XC, if you love the sport, buy new ones and gimme back my worn ones :P) |

I'm thinking of stepping up my rides to work, as I've been wussing out and only riding to Main/Danforth to get the GO most days, I've started using Eglinton GO and that adds a few more miles in.. I just can't bring myself to get up early enough to ride the full distance (I like to schedule 2.5 hours for the full 50k). edit: I have some el-cheapo knobbies around at home too if anyone wants (Kenda's that came on my Canadian Tire bike) - I've no longer got a 26" wheeled bike, so they're useless to me. |
dont know if any of you guys have seen or want to see this

I don't use yellow lenses, but have the red-ish tints in my nashbar glasses that I really like. I have Ryders too but drunkenly scratched my red lense up and my sunglass one is starting to be annoying to wear with a few scratches at eye-level. The nashbar ones work and were cheap as hell at the time, YMMV. Try Home Depot, they've got some reasonable safety goggle things with various styles/tints.

Rouge Hill is a nice ride-start point though, I like the path there and it's never been busy when I'm on it, at least it makes getting to Guildwood a bit more scenic than the boring old Kingston road route.

Appreciate the offer man thanks. It's also gonna be my winter bike so I think around that time I'm gonna be looking at a pair of knobbies anyway. That bike has got 25mm tires on right now so that's not gonna work for snow, cx or anything other than pavement really.
At the risk of pointing out the obvious, Kensington is totally where it's at for sunglasses. The pair I buy (Big Elvis Glasses) cost me 4.50 or something so I don't even mind that I'm on my 5th pair of the summer. PM me and they are yours, also Cyclesolutions was having a tire blowout last I was there, some decent offerings. And yeah thats hella obvious. But I didnt think of it, so thanks :D |
1) charlie ride = hell yeah
2) igor's ***** = hell no 3) i'm participating in the multiple sclerosis society's bike "tour" (pfft only 30 or 55kms) on september 7th... if anyone is interested in making a pledge, you can do so online at https://msofs.mssociety.ca/2008bike/...=2&PID=1047043 4) 9 more days = camping-by-bike! 5) glasses and much more = http://www.rotblotts.com |

Yeah, Kingston Rd. is 'ok' but it can be a hassle, I like to switch it up and turn off on Eglinton and weave through (Danforth Rd, Warden or Pharmacy) but Eglinton can be a busy road too - I refuse to go into the 'death zone dip' near Leslie/Sunnybrook. Rouge Hill is a nice ride-start point though, I like the path there and it's never been busy when I'm on it, at least it makes getting to Guildwood a bit more scenic than the boring old Kingston road route.

Yes, it still ends there, but it's easy to hook up on some back roads to Guildwood, or just take the Highland Creek trail, if the bridge is fixed yet. Or, you can go the other way down Lawrence to the Rouge Beach park, then take the bridge into Pickering and ride the conservation area.
