It was only taken with my old 2MP point & shoot, so it's 1600x1200 @ 180dpi. So, not very big. And it was also taken at I think the highest iso the camera does. But I think the dirtiness / grain works for these images.. I wish it was film grain though. :)

From Scorchers to Alley Cat Scrambles: the amazing history of the bicycle in Toronto tells the story of the revolutionary changes to transportation in the city and how the bicycle contributed to improving our roads, liberating women and modernizing consumerism, tourism and professional sport.

The exhibit, which runs from May 20 - October 1, will feature items from the collections of the City of Toronto Culture Division, Museum & Heritage Services and the Toronto exceptional collection of historic bicycles, posters, memorabilia and ephemera. Mr. Shields, a collector for over 50 years, has donated much of his collection to the National Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa. This exhibit is the first time that items of this scale and quality have been gathered together into an exhibit.

The Market Gallery, in partnership with the Community Bicycle Network, presents the fascinating history of the bicycle in Toronto from "scorchers" the pioneering daredevils of the 1800s to the illegal late-night "alley cat" races of today's bicycle messengers. Featuring personal histories, compelling stories and beautiful old bicycles, From Scorchers to Alley Cat Scrambles chronicles how the bicycle has influenced the social, political and economic life of Toronto residents since 1869.

Dunhill was just interested in the "sub-culture" event to flog their product. They had a decent share of the smokes market in B.C. but wasn't doing well in the Ontario market. I don't know if their Ontario market share went up after this.....I would guess not. I don't know exactly how Dunhill got involved although I would guess that a rep for them gets his coffee's from Jetfuel. I always thought of the H.P.R. as a perfect addition to the X-Games. Thrills....spills...young sexy folks in lycra...how could you go wrong. Very spectator friendly as well. Squid in N.Y.C has been trying to get one going there. With the kind of hook-ups they have with Puma you would think it would be fairly easy. 2 years and counting...nothing yet. Kind of gives you an idea of the barriers involved. When I win the lottery *crosses fingers* we will have a velodrome to ride here in T.O. Until some rich guy that LOVES track cycling gets involved, I don't see one here in the foreseeable future.

One of them crossed my path and it occurred to me for about an instant to bolt but the bad karma involved doing that was too great. We were actually chuckling about it..... So here's my idea. All the forumites in the Toronto thread donate 2 bucks a week. We pool the $$ and buy Lotto 6/49 tickets (otherwise known as stupidity tax) When we win (of course such a noble cause would have to win) we can erect the "Bikeforums Single Speed and Fixed Gear Toronto Thread Memorial Velodrome" otherwise known as the B.F.S.S.F.G.T.T.M.V. what choo think?
