/kneecrushing. plus it can get hilly towards north york.im thinking ill pick either 75 or 80 gear in. and then leave it alone, should be fast enough in my cadence to crush n00bz, but wont kill me on the hillier sections.

I'll get a set as well if you're interested in splitting shipping/customs etc. Let me know
Good ride tonight, I'll shrink down/edit the footage to get it online somewhere. Good to see you there TJ. Nice to put a face to the name, Stuart. kergin: After heading south off Bloor we went right down to Queensway and east. I'm thinking we should bunch up more every few lights or so - not everyone makes the intersections in the same cycle I guess. |

You will kill your knees. I did this for two months last fall. 1) Never learned to spin properly at that gearing; 2) Got really tired.

80 is too much. Especially for rollers. Somewhere between 75-80 is a happy middleground if you're stronger.

I keep going down in gear inches. I went from 46x16 to 48x18 and now I'm at 42x16. At 90rpm 46x16 is ~32.6kph and 42x16 is ~29.7kph, which isn't really that great of a difference in cruising speed. That's a 6.6 gear-inch difference. However I find the perceived effort at the same cadence is much lower on the 42x16, so that's the easy winner.

Quite the crowd for the ride in this morning. Nice to see.

There was a ride this morning?
</out of the loop> |
i unno, im going to check the skid patches after typing this and see if ill go to 75, but on the other hand the cardio would probably do me good anyway. Guh, gear inches has to be the most involved descision relating to riding fixed, so many variables. none of my packages are arriving! im getting ticked. *taptaptaptaptaptap* |
