Wes, I always beat you to it! booya. |
How is this for happy bike month for ya! I forgot to share this unfortunate story. I was passing by the Delaware exit of Ossington station and I saw a fellow who tried to get himself and his bike, which was propped up on its rear tire, through the spinning spikey floor to ceiling exit. He effectively trapped himself and bike within. While the TTC staff deconstructed the device, passerbyers were taking pictures and throwing tomatoes.

Actual tomatoes? Dinks.

[QUOTE=Flimflam;6950096]Good idea on the Sharpie, that'll work nicely I bet... though aren't battlewounds/scars hardcore? Or is that just for human skin and not componentry? :p[QUOTE]
beausage my friend, beausage. i think a worn patina is great on all things that get used regularly (think a worn leather jacket or a pair of 501s with a hole in them). personally i like the look of a great quality bike with a bit of wear on it but that's just me... |
anyone else notice the new bike shop in kensington selling used parts? same street as parts unknown, closer to dundas...
|
Don't forget if you sabotage your bike like that you're opening up yourself to lawsuits. Even if they are trying to steal your bike.
|
not even if i have a cool disclaimer/sticker/decal on it that reads 'warning! this bike is unsafe to ride!' ?
|
so my Chrome bag is pretty good, but once it gets full - especially with a heavy load - the thing becomes unbearable because the buckle tends to sit really high on my chest, almost digging into the collar bone, and there's zero padding on the back. Anyone have these problems? What should I do about it, get the bag modified with back padding and perhaps a different buckle?
Also: Humber College is getting a bike co-op! This is ****ing awesome! I fully intend to volunteer there when they open up in the fall. Also-Also: saw two baby raccoons wrestling in the humber trail system - those buggers are pretty cute. |

just rode clipless for the first time, definitely thought i was going to fall off my bike the first 2 times i tried to clip in because of how the pedals are balanced, but got used to it after clipping in and out as much as possible over a few hours
pretty damn sweet |

Just got back from a summer party at my former employers - as I was taking off from there, I rode down King W on the wrong side while I waited for a gap to get across to my westbound lane and the cop car I passed didn't mind a **** I was riding the wrong way/wrong side of the road right by them... What gives? I was *clearly* in the wrong, meh, I don't care :p Saves me a ticket ;) I was 'encouraged' to ride down the office hallway where I used to work, but skip stopped before the stairs (it's a 2nd floor office) - some nice harsh black streaks down the carpet now... I'm just glad my buddy is finishing Monday - I felt awful after realising the mess I made :p Bleh, beered bedtime, woo. |

Few pics / ride report (mostly me complaining) from the first "Thursday 100s" ride up now: http://www.makergo.com/shutup/

nice one
|
Yeah I'll try and join you guys as often as I can for the Thursday 100 - just depends on when I get back into town from Whitby, but it's usually around 7 or earlier, so I should be fine. Sounds like torturous fun :)

That's probably Shannon's place. He used to be the head mechanic at Bikes on Wheels further up the street. Nice fellow, apparently.

mike the bike sounds about right. closer to dundas, sort of beside the "bug's life" shop...

If it's the same street as Parts Unknown then I think you're talking about Mike the Bike. Shannen's located on Kensington, in the alleyway next to Exile.

a question for you tattoo guys (ie guys with a lot of tattoos...) do you know of an artist that you would recommend? i'm thinking along the lines of someone you know personally (friend etc) and who you would want to do some work on you (and obviously local). PM me if you have any ideas.
i only ask here because i'd rather get a personal recommendation than throw the net out there and hope for the best. |
