those geekhouse bike remind me of the old khs aero-tracks. i don't mind the look of them, except for the risers.
why is everyone getting a new bike except for me? i'm still on the hunt for that perfect city bike; been thinking about swapping a few parts around and making one ultimate city machine! |
oh yeah: riding home along the lake after midnight watching the moon over the water and having "don't fear the reaper" come up in my ipods shuffle was just awesome. not sure why but awesome still.

My wife is asleep, so I'm sitting here in another room after too much red wine playing some Bob Marley on guitar (volume low). |

Mmm. Vintage Mr. Mellow. His album with Clapton was superb.

I can fire up my Mesa Boogie, kick in some distortion and play 'Paranoid' if you like. I'm afraid besides being really crappy, I can't play any BOC, although Buck Dharma rules.

Let me know when/if you do and I'll get them to you. I have a flat curved bar like Wes has on the urbanite if your interested. I have no use for it.

I wouldn't bother at all - just put a nice amount of grease and crank that ****er on there. Same deal with the lockring and you're good to go!
Edit: Kergin beat me to it. |

I don't have any grease and when I went to the hardware store they had no idea what I meant by "grease", so I thought loc-tite was alright. If anyone knows a cheap place for grease and if grease would be better, I'd rather do it right than jury rig it. I just didn't know what type of grease to get and thought loc-tite was equivalent.

but yeah those guys are right, you shouldn't need loc-tite ... if you're having problems with your hub you might need it, but in most cases you don't you can get phil wood grease at MEC, i think it's at least $4 cheaper there than most places |
i agree - always handy to have a tube of phil grease around. it seems to last forever, i think the last one i bought was 3-4 years ago...
|
Awesome, thanks guys. Realizing what the grease is for (preventing the threads from seizing) totally changes things. I assumed it had something to do with it rattling loose on the threads, now I get it. I've got tubs of white lithium grease sitting around, although I'll go ahead and buy proper bike grease.
Totally stupid question I'm sure, but stepping up a notch is going to move my wheel up in the track end, to the point that I doubt I'll be able to just slide the hub forward and pop the chain on and off the chainring. With a derailleur system I've just hooked the chain on one of the teeth and pedalled the chain onto the chainring, can you do that on a singlespeed/fixed that doesn't have a chain tensioner? /dumbass question |
Has anybody ever sold a bike they'd registered with the coppers, and had to switch the registration over to the new owner's name? How'd you do it? Any insight would be appreciated.

They just patched me through to the closest station, and the guy said he could just change the info for me. I didn't have the buyer's full info though, so I didn't go through with it (yet) and can't confirm that it's as easy as he made it seem.
