My lockring was really really hard to take off as well and it also came from Urbane. Took me about half an hour of cranking, banging on the lockring tool, or torquing my entire weight over the lockring tool. It comes off, it's just really ****ing tight. Not at all complaining though, stuff like that is supposed to be tight.

If you have a crazy amount of trouble you can just put a pipe over the gripping area of the lockring tool so you have a longer handle. More torque would make it easier to get it off

Athough why you would want this is beyond me. http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...l_kingdom.html

This link may be blocked by work filters because of the word "penis", but it's a news site.

See the primate paragraph.

My condolences, Flint Lock

"Hype" is about all this bike has going for it.. love the description, and the "mid crank pedal to top of seatpost" measurement :P This is why I hate Craigslist...

EDIT: FG fever on CL? Are people upgrading, or just getting bored with their fad bikes? This is from the past week..

gorilla penises are among the smallest of the apes -- about an inch-and-a-half long.

i thought it would take until next summer for CL to turn into the fixed fad clearinghouse, but maybe i overestimated the publics attention span.

Yeah really ;) Mine's the ROb Roy GB, but still, it's a group buy :)

Looks nice, though I'm confused he's selling the 56 (which an enormous amount of seatpost showing) because his 53 fits better... doesn't make sense but whatever- I'd consider it if I had the bones to pony up.

Better pics of the monster truck.
New tires, 1.95". Ride really well, not too loud. 46/15, serfas stinger race ti saddle, evo post, itm stem, sram chain, bmx chain tugs, frame and fork are obvious. Rides great, smooth, light and fast even with the big tires. Am very happy with the result.

:thumb: man that thing is deadly!! looks like you could ride over a few cars on that thing!

cavit8 08-14-08 04:33 PM

And it looks even sweeter in real life.

kergin 08-14-08 05:06 PM

mad max. i love it.

jet sanchEz 08-14-08 05:40 PM

Today, I rode all over the Lakeshore and into High Park with my friend, we had lunch under a tree, rode some more out over into Sunnyside park and now I am listening to Sigur Ros whilst messing around with a new project (Santini purchased on CL) and popping a new derailleur on the Ciocc, waiting for the thunderstorm to come. Holy great summer cycling day!

And yeah, as others have said Pyze, that bike looks great. No messing around, all bidnaz, scccccchwwwweeeet.

kergin 08-14-08 05:46 PM

why can't i have days like this? :/

32flavours 08-14-08 05:46 PM

I demand pictures of you riding over/crushing cars with it.

I took out a mini today.

Thanks all, I'm happy with it. And Brad and Stuart, excellent recommendation on the tires.

It isn't as durable as the SR-2, but it gets the job done.

while we're on tools - why is it that with bike tools you either buy crap or you fork out $ for Park? Its not always true, all my Hozan tools are really well made, but most of the other brands, Axiom, Wrench Force, etc... just make crap that might last 3 or 4 uses. Is it too much to ask for decent tools without getting reamed by Park pricing?

Hozan are generally better quality than Park IMHO. Certain tools are better from certain companies. I love Wheels Manufacturing cone wrenches for instance....waaay better than Park ones. I actually like some of the Axiom tools....mostly the shop grade stuff tho.

Hey Mike

Were you still interested in a mag21 fork? I'm debating dumping mine. 1" threaded and I can ballpark the steerer length if you're interested.

Rode home from Whitby tonight, nice ride with a cooler end - lovely view of the pink sky and lightning. Caught the rain at Bathurst/College only as I stopped over in the east end for a bit.

Had an 'explosive' flat tonight, luckily just at the end of my street. On further inspection, something pierced the inside of the tube and my rim tape has a hole in over where the spoke/nipple area would be - there's something metallic rattling around in the rim somewhere which I can't shake out. Now I haven't any spare rim tape so don't want to take it off just yet, but I'm curious as to what the hell could've happened. The spoke is fine, no tension loss and everything looks sound still, barring the hole in the rimtape - the rim 'hole' feels fine, no burrs or sharp edges suggesting broken metal.

I don't know wheels, and without knowing what's rattling in the rim I can't think what it could be - would it be part of the internal part of the nipple or something that's broken off? I didn't hit anything to cause the flat, but did have a squirrelly moment earlier on the tracks that almost took me down (back slid out) as the only thing that could've made this happen. I'm about to try booting the hole and getting some pressure on a tube in there and seeing how it is. I kinda want to ride still :)

Oh, the rim is a Mavic CXP22 if that's important.

I'm working again this weekend so I can't take it in for inspection nor get any rim tape, but any ideas would be great - I'll get it into a shop ASAP.

Flimflam 08-14-08 09:58 PM

Well I guess the blowout ripped the tyre too (both sides where the 'clinch' edge joins the rest). I can put my finger through the one side pretty easily, doh and turds... I'll just ride my roadie for the weekend - I can't be bothered risking this thing when I need to get to work heh.

jeremywhitehorn 08-14-08 11:23 PM

does the rim have yelets? i had one come loose on mine and it caused a rattling sound - if it came off on the inside it might puncture a tire.

oh and pyze - really like the new build. a great city bike indeed. just made for curb hopping.

It wasn't for me, it was for the guy I sit next to in class. That being said, I'll see if he's still interested.

shapelike 08-15-08 05:07 AM

Keith, thanks for the invite but I'm going to pass on the race (yes, I'm wuss/scared little child/loooooser, etc.).

Someone go race with Keith and Co. at the 24hr race later on this month!!! It's the weekend of the 23rd, apparently.
