why would you sell those parts??? that bike is almost complete... just pick up those wheels and you got your self a tarck bike up there with the best of 'em... but an aerospock might be good

I was planning on building a really nice tarck bike, but I sat on it for a long time, and now I don't really care enough to finish the build. Although those black IRO wheels tempt me to finish it. :)

-59cm IRO bikeforums fixed gear frameset.. blue (kinda an aqua/teal). Totally unbadged. King headset installed. Same geometry as the Angus/Mark V. Dedacciai tubing. Drilled for brakes, but no cable stops.
-Black Sugino 75s + Sugino 75 BB.
-Black alloy Deda pista bars.
-EAI cog.. I can't remember how many teeth off the top of my head.. maybe 17t?
-I think I might have a dura-ace lockring as well.

Also: used, but in good shape:
-unbranded (no words!), straight-blade carbon road fork with alloy steerer (cut). Steerer was too short for the headtube on the IRO.

This is pretty much a complete bike... get those wheels and put the turdbanite out to pasture?

Tip of the day.

When using an industrial BBQ in the wind, when the lid gets blown off and breakes the hinges while you arelifting it up, don't grab it when trying to regain your balance. Burned 8 fingers and on the left hand burn goes from the tip of my index finger to below my thumb.

And soaking a burn in soy sauce is the bomb.

kergin 08-08-08 05:01 PM

^^ Holy crap that sound horrid. I hope you weren't burned badly enough to need a doctor.

well, you know how they say, if you love something, then let it go? well, that awkward Giant OCR that I converted to a fixed gear with that ENO wheel... gave it to a friend that needed a bike. He had never ridden fixed gear before, but was pretty good to go after a quick ride through the school parking lot. This morning, he was really happy about the ride in - apparently that OCR rides 100% better than his old beater. I'm happy someone is getting enjoyment out of it :)

No doctors. I soaked the hand/fingers in soy for about an hour and bye to the pain (well most of it) and 1 blister about the size of a quarter. Bad enough to cancel working tonight, but not Sat and Sunday.

Damn. I am switching out the cog on my Miche wheelset because it was making a lot of noise; I figured matching the size of the cog to the size of the chain would cancel out the noise because my Formula wheelset is really quiet.

But, now that I have the sizes on the Miche wheelset matched, it is still making a ton of noise....when I compare chainlines, the Formula set is right on and the Miche set is off by a couple of mms. I guess that is the problem but the Miche set has a Dura Ace 16t cog, I figured it would be fine. Shheeeeeeeeeeeeit.

You're running 3/32 and you're still getting lots of noise? What cog/chainring/chain are you using?

Well, switching to the inside of the crank helped a lot and, per LordFoo's suggestion (thanks LordFoo!), wet-lube worked really well so, it is a lot quieter now. For the record, I am running a Dura Ace cog with a Shimano 600 chainring, both 1/1'8 and the chain is some KMC track chain that came with the frame.

If you want quiet, switch to 3/32. Wet lube only diminishes noise for a day or two - and then it'll return.

Damn. Yeah, I wonder why the Formula wheelset is so much quieter than the Miche though? I will switch the cog from the Formula to the Miche, that will likely make a difference. And yeah, I should just man up and get an entire drivetrain that is 3/32.

I think a good parts help. My beater has crappy $12 chains from mec with a mec blackspire(sp?) chain and it was always noisy regardless of cog, both surly and duca ace. The new ride has a sram chain with a better crank/chainring setup and a new surly cog and it is super quiet. Granted the drivedrain is brand new and the parts right now are still in the early stages of the threesome, getting to know one another etc. All 3/32 too for me.

I haven't come across any reason for running a 1/8 setup except for tradition. 3/32 is lighter, faster, stronger and quieter all in one. (144bcd 3/32 chainring choices are limited however whereas 1/8 is not)/.
