Hey Matt, went to urbane and picked up the part (asked for as "that thing that goes inside the dropout and breaks alot" which was enough for them to get it...) came home and sure enough that's exactly what it was. Replaced the part, reassembled my bike and no snapping noises this time around. Thanks a lot dude, appreciate the insight.

so far in denmark, other than the family bikes, the best thing i've seen is the amount of people running lights with magnetic dynamos. no need for batteries, or your tire being molested by a traditional dynamo.

You may want to either wait until Sept and even then order one tyre at a time so you lessen the chance of paying duty.

Hey tuz, I just noticed now that you have an Alycon CX bike-----is it hanging in the Cherry Bomb coffee shop on Roncesvalles?
Whether it is or not, it is the nicest looking CX bike I have ever seen. I love the old-skool lugged steel with the new components and I want one. Some of the old Pinarellos CX bikes are really nice too...

i saw similar ones on a guys comfort bike a few weeks ago, the ones they carry in cyclesolutions... pretty shaite, they are weak as ass and blink only when the magnet is physically moving past them.
but, geeking the magnets to charge a small battery and hooking it up to a decent lamp would be pimpage.

sometimes i like to use the chainstay for some leverage when removing cups. not all BB tools or designs will allow for this, but when they do, that trick usually works.
reminds me - today the mech at labicicletta hooked me up with a free dustcap removal tool and shimano brand external bb wrench. when i asked how much, he says, "just put it in your bag..." LULZ!
apparently, the new external bb cranks start to exhibit clicks when there's any dirt on the spindle... which is odd, cause clicking usually means dead/dying bb with splined/square taper systems.
keith - how's the shimano chain breaker tool? It was a toss up between the park and this shimano and I snagged the shimano on recommendation.

Aside from total-body hangover fatigue, gorgeous don ride today. I ran it in full gear to see what its like and it rocks, raceface pads, MEC camelbak with my essential tools in it, the bern helmet and my new yellow glasses. Little bit hot at first running fully padded, but once everything is soaked with sweat it breathes pretty well for some reason. plus, the shinnies saved me today on a nasty bit of stump, worth every penny already.
K, the bike is running perfectly, I fine-tuned the tension and it didnt complain at all. I will need new bars as I have been noticing a few dents and dings that arent very healthy, however the rest is pretty indestructible. thx for the brakes/grips, excellent combination, and very comfortable

Nice. Yeah, Cherry Bomb has some sort of partnership with Bicycle Specialities and they hang neat old bikes on the wall, switching them out every month or so. Last month was a sweet Schwinn Apple Kart and now it is this crazy-wicked Alycon CX bike. I took a photo once of this, a Mariposa touring bike that looked pretty sweet to me:

one that has a capacitor and stores energy, blinking 2x per second
one that is a constant light
you can buy extra magnets to add to all 3
my friend had the one without the capacitor on his bike, even spinning it by hand
it was much, much brighter than my MEC turtle that i had in my bag.
