yea yea sure sure, nobody wants to admit they're ABBA freaks anymore. I cleaned my daughter's 60's CCM , wow CLR and a scrubby pad makes the chrome fenders and wheels look like brand spanking new!!!! Sparkles in sun, I wonder if she'll notice.

Well I don't know what's going on with/inside my rim, but it held up fine this morning when I made the sprint to Union. Queen/Ronces -> Union in 11 minutes 30. I may've been a sweaty pile of mess, but I made my train (just.. it was rolling in as I was coming down Simcoe to Front).
Thanks go out to Canadian Tire money for being the 'boot' material over the dodged tape area

I left my house at 9:58, train rolls in to Exhibition at 10:00 and it was :03 when I got to Dufferin so I figured I'd missed it... otherwise I would've definitely gone there. It leaves Union at :13, so I figured I had a slim chance of trying...

the gentle wing shaped surface made me think "tampon" when I first saw it.

So what's the deal with the '09 Big Unit ... same thing as the Kula 29er but with a different name? Seems like the drop-outs on the website are from a protype model or something (they look pretty ghetto and I hope not production spec).

"no your a towel"
god damn mother****ing piece of ****! my misfit just started creaking at the headset, i opened it up and re-greased it. creaking stayed the same. had a friend look at at and he said there could be one of a few things wrong with it, 1) ****ed bearings in the headset. 2) cracked frame. 3) cracked fork steerer. first ever new mountain bike, and it doesnt like to work for me
now i cant take it on my camping trip
im pissed.
i have a FUbar bars that need a good home... i rode them home from the shop and didnt like them, so i changed them out. so they are virtually new. (will let go of them for a 29er tube)
and im kinda looking for a couple things and wondering if anyone has some suggestions?
Oversized bars (risers, for the misfit). looking for something 640mm+ (not too sure what sizes are normal ect, all i know is my 600's are too narrow). a stem for the oversized bars (guessing it would be best to purchase after bars to make sure reach isnt affected). and a decent seat post!

^^ that sucks, stuart...hehe I'd probably just take it camping anyways - if its gonna fail, its gonna fail.
I've been in Peterborough for the past day - without bike - so I decided to go for a run, and now I'm stiff as a board... I also noticed how running seems to magnify injuries long forgotten: I bashed up my knee back in early April, but it had healed up - or so I thought. Running definitely brought that ache back to light.
Now I know what they mean when people say cycling is a soft-contact sport.

You may also want to check that the noise isn't coming from the ferrules on your housing (at the cable stops on your top tube near the head tube). It might even be your stem. Check to make sure the faceplate is tightened evenly. If the bolt(s) on top are way tighter then the one(s) on the bottom (so the faceplate's on an angle, basically) that can cause creaking.

Quick 4:00am reply: I might take those FU Bars off your hands when I get back to TO next week. If you still have 'em, let me know. Depends on if I find something cool in SFO.
Stuart, if your MTB has an aluminum frame, the creaking you think is from your headset may be coming from somewhere else entirely. Aluminum transmits small noises extremely well and it seems everything comes from the headset area when you hear it. I had the rails on my seat come loose at the front of the saddle, and I swore it was the headset for the longest time.

Actually Ted IS on our team. He is gonna blast off the first 2 laps and then give it up to us till Sunday morning when he is gonna go out and do 2 more. We are focused far less on position/speed etc and more on everyone having a good time with the chance to put a dent in the keg. We still have a spot if you have changed your mind.

Those 29ers are nice looking fo' sho'. Bit of saddle bling? The shiny shiny looks interesting... is it aesthetic or grippy stuff too?
Had trouble getting into GO Exhibition today, stupid CNE (have to go to the Atlantic entrance, unbeknownst to me and the cops on the west side I asked).
Have some good times in SF, Wes.
Edit: Anyone know where/who takes old tyres? I've got 5 that have varying levels of damage/wear, none I'd want anyone to actually ride on - but there has to be some sort of recycle program... I feel bad about ditching them into the trash.
