Anyone want to ride to McCowan/7 today?
I'm just gonna go take care of the morning S's (crap, shower, shave) then will be heading up there to a store via my buddies at Greenwood/Danforth. I'll check back shortly.

OK, well I'm heading up there.
Also, found a nicer route home from Whitby last night. Kingston Rd. (Hwy2) to Whites Rd. in Pickering, then south to the lake into Petticoat Creek Conservation Area, then from there you can get to Ross Rd. and back onto the Waterfront trail that's just east of Rouge Hill GO station, and from there either go down the path in East Point Park or just straight across Lawrence. Was a much more scenic/enjoyable route than Hwy2 in that area, and it took the edge off that Rouge valley hill

On the way home I took 7 over to Woodbine, south to Steeles then east to Victoria Park and south back down. I went as far as O'Connor then stopped in at a friends place off O'Connor. From there I just did my usual route back across downtown to home (Queen/Ronces).
Not a bad run.

Anyone want to do the Hairshirt route next Sunday? I wussed on the original back in June and still need to do the ride. As it's a long weekend Sunday is ideal for me. I'll be likely on the roadbike, rather than riding it fixed. I also want to head to the Falls fixed still if anyone wants to do that instead, but don't fancy the full return trip in a day on fixed (one day, I'll try
)

thanks for all the well wishes, homies.
steph will be ok - nothing broken, just a badly banged up knee. no word on serious ligament or tissue damage but at this point it looks like it'll heal on it's own... just lots of bedrest for the little lady and no bikin' for a week or so...
here's the kicker - the cab took off, the girl that was getting out of the cab was nice and gave steph her name and number but... the ****ing **** gave steph a fake name and number! thanks a lot, random *****!

it's only a matter of time. it could be days, months or maybe even years, but you'll run into her again. that's a pretty slimy thing to do. stick around and pretend to be the good guy and they're actually going out of there way to be the total opposite.

Maybe we can get a description of the charming young lady. I'm always riding downtown and I've been wanting to practice my high speed moving dismount into pedestrian combo...

was it the woman who doored steph, or the cabbie? if it's the former, obviously that makes more sense.

it was the woman getting out of the cab... i just wrote a more or less full account here but given that it wasn't there, it's pretty base level. had i been there... oh brother, it would have been ugly.
i just can't believe people, you know? i'm sure we've all done (and do) things we're not proud of but can any of you imagine doing something like that? now steph is stuck with extra bills and an injury and the person responsible took advantage of her good nature (in not calling the cops and trusting her when we said she'd help with "anything she needs") went on with her day like nothing happened.

Bikes: Menonite black urbanite, probably enough spare parts to make anther one.
what is wrong with people, indeed. it takes a special kind of cowardice to give false info to a person in need. i've had people open can doors in front of me and just basically tell me to stuff it but to pretend to care and lie to get off the hook? wow. if you or your lady need anything bike-wise (replacement parts, etc) let me know. legitimate contact information included.
