As long as you drive downtown before noon, you're fine.

Was that anyone from here that I saw late afternoon coming out from Rouge Beach park? I was on my Litespeed MTB going down to the beach.

Bikes: Apollo fixed winter bike, Gazelle Cross, Baboe Cargo bike, Linskey Rouleur Road, Bridgestone Picnica, Tern C7, 2nd gen Strida

An open letter to the guy gingerly riding brakeless down Queen East on the chrome Pista today. Please, please, get rid of the plastic pedals and get some clips and straps.

And to the cheese-eater who jutted out from behind a parked car and rode down the wrong side of the road, you're getting my elbow in your teeth next time.

Yes, it's been a sunshiny day, thanks.

so what are people's plans vis a vis the cmwc? i want to see at least some of it as i missed it last time it was here. what's say we keep try to meet up and make it a social thang if there's a few of us going to the same event.

i'm doing father's day stuff on sunday in the afternoon but as of now i'm planning of going to the skid and maybe the trackstand competition at night (camera in hand). shout if you'd like to meet up first or what have you...

I am definitely going on Sunday. I "want" to see the main race but it starts at like, 8:30, which is an annoying time because if I'm going to be on the island by then I'd have to get up like...now. But I am going to get there hopefully late morning with my girlfriend, if anyone wants to meet up I would be so down. It would be nice to talk to people about fg's in person. Where and when should this meet up happen?

Advice - this is a good place to ask for help that doesn't need to be seen and generally speaking if you've got a problem, Sheldon (RIP) has probably already addressed it.
Thanks for the tips. I've definitely been to MEC and Urbane a few times. Both places seem really good. I've also done a lot of reading at Sheldon's site. Extremely helpful.

I'm heading down at some point, not sure what time, are you going for the morning race? I am working a crazy double job Sat so Sun morning might not be great for me, but the evening stuff should be okay. I'll bring the bars as well if we meet up. Don't happen to still have the shoes do you?

I'll be there all weekend pretty much, I registered to compete for the hell of it - so I kinda have to be around Look forward to seeing it all go off.

I've some stuff to take care of downtown early afternoon tomorrow, then I'm heading to the Steam Whistle for the opener unless there's a better plan(tm)?

Shipped my good buddy Dave off to north eastern BC 40 mins ago and we made a deal we'd get together for a ride somewhere in between and do the camp thing, etc. too (like, bus it to Winnipeg and ride or something ) - either way, I'm heading out to visit him with bike in tow at my earliest chance

Oh crap yeah, highlight of my riding today: Getting hollered/leered/cheered at by a car full of girls on Danforth - never happened before, never will again I bet so I'm noting it into history

By the way I did see a rider down this morning at the intersection of Bloor/University. Riding a green brakeless bike with track drops. Car and bike was in the dead middle of the intersection. Bike was perfectly fine, waited for the fire truck and ambulance to show up which wasn't long.

I had an italian guy in the passenger seat yell bueno bueno! out the side window while I was going up hoggs hollow this morning. This was about 10 minutes after some guy tried to kill me because quote "I shouldn't have been riding in the middle of the lane".

And that gives you the right to try and run me over. Right.

I decided i won't be going downtown but somewhere closer. Between Cyclemania and Cyclepath both on Danforth, which would you go to for new chain installation, or is either one fine?

either shop's fine, but you can buy chainbreakers and do it yourself in a pinch. it's the first thing i ever learned to do on my own bike.

Do read T.J.'s above post ... I don't know where you got 8:30am from but NOBODY is going to be up for racing/spectating at that ungodly hour.

Also, I'll be shooting ... I might just be there Sunday but I'll try to take some shots that don't completely suck ass.

I came off Harbord and down Ossington the other night and slipped right into a paceline w/ some guys riding fixed/singlespeeds. No sketchy cornering at the intersection, no snaking other people's lines or overlapping wheels ... just a random "hey look, we all know how to ride together and let's do that now because it's fun." Woot. Go (out-of-towners?) random bike riders.

Really? I haven't been here that long, but it doesn't seem so anymore. What changed?
In many ways it still is a very bike-friendly city compared to the United States... it's just that it could be so much better! One difference I'd say is that the recession of early 1990's (temporarily) took a lot of cars off the road. I think it's also safe to say that before municipal amalgamation the roads/paving were in considerably better shape than they are today.

My plan is to meet up w/ Wes et al. at the Pottery road trailhead at 6:45-7pm and do a quick ride (~1hr + a bit) before the rain hits. Consider this an open invite to anyone else who might be interested. *off to the shop*
