Wondering if I should lose links on the 44-18 to make it as short as possible and slack from there. thanks for the company name.. hey, that coffee was a Peru Fair Trade organic as well. Try it yet?
Coffee is very tasty.

I would think the vert tensioner would be fine. It says it is a downward tensioner, but looking at it I can't see why it wouldn't work pushing up as well.

ok i have a story from today that some might find funny... other might find well, i'll let you decide.

One casting today for a show room for a big name (meaning new cranks and BB) and in like me and my buddy start talking to these 2 chicks in front (hes 24, I'm 19). Both being models they are pretty good looking, one a red head, and the other a blond. So my buddy starts hitting on the red head while i talk to the blond (i have no game, so i just end up in talking to girls like there friends... no game).
Anyways, an hour and a half later, we are getting closer to the front so they decide to change shoes (from converse for walking, to high heels for show), and the red head hands my friend her portfolio and says we can look through it, so we do. As we flick through the pictures we come across this one taken from the belly button up, she wearing a top, and is showing one of her breasts and it has like water dripping down it (not too bad ). It caught us off guard so we kept flipping through with out making a scene. Later the conversation changes to where we have lived, it goes around the circle and stops on the red head who says 14 years is Boston (Bwoston as she said) and 1 in Chicago...

*pauses and lets people reread the end to find out what was so bad*

yup she was 15...

luckily the one i was talking to was 18, but due to my lack of game i didn't get a number (which could also be funny i guess)...

my friend is still devastated she is 15

I used to have a frame from the unicorn power one as a forum avatar a few years back. That guy's work is gold and if I'm not crazy he's Canadian as well ... or maybe not ... or I'll just ramble on a bit more.

Edit:

... and oh my god, this will be mine:

sore knees

So I've been riding fixed for about a week. Was really excited to finally get one so I've been hitting it pretty hard, and now my knees are starting to get sore. A little worse every day. Started just above the knee cap and is now spreading to just below. Needless to say I am going to take it easy for a few days.
Is this a necessary, transitionary pain as my legs strengthen up, or is my seat too low/high? I've heard that having your seat too low can be bad for your knees, but my pedal stroke feels okay to me.
TIA
Almost forgot: I am riding 44/15. Maybe my gearing is too difficult for a noob?

i don't think 44/15 is unreasonable for a new rider but if you're experiencing knee pain - aside from bike fit as you mentioned - too high a gear ratio for you might have something to do with it. try dropping it and see what happens. 44/16 doesn't give you a lot of skid patches, though, so if that's a concern drop to 17. do you have / are you using a brake?

one other thing to consider;were you heavy into biking before you started riding fixed or has it sort of "re-introduced you to cycling" so to speak?

Sounds like you know the answer. Take a break, do some patella femoral stretches and check your fitting.... and then ride hard at the CMWC!

Also -- resisting/skidding uses completely different muscle groups than you're probably used to using, especially the ones right above / anterior to your kneecap. This is another case where using a brake can save some pain and suffering..

It may be a riding style as well, particularly if you're riding brakeless. Roaring off then braking with your legs eccentrically loads your legs and if you do it a lot and you're not used to it, pain will result. If you're running brakeless try to work more on your flow as opposed to stop and go. Similar riding with a brake.

Definitely, I saw tall Martin (messenger) on Queen west showing a non-Toronto dude around (Danish dude I think but forget his name sorry). Getting all hyped, woo!

Hahaha, awesome in a fairly embarassing way (reading the lyrics was interesting )

I'll be in Taylor Creek/the Don but only on the paved trails tonight, I'm going to ride down and then across to the square for the DSR ride/meet. Heard someone ripping a dirtbike around on the west side of the river last night in there The bugs were on full-out splat duty though in the creek especially

can i voice my disapproval of the college street celebrations after EVERY ****ing soccer game?

someone just set off a firecracker in the alley behind my house scaring the **** out of my dog.

i am all for supporting your teams.... but do you really need a 6 hour celebration of car horns and whistles after EVERY game?

I wish that level of energy and support (moral and financial) would be put behind the Canadian soccer team(s). That way, we might actually see a win in our lifetime.

Agreed with not supporting the loud celebrations, but it's really fun riding through the traffic.... or maybe that's just me.
