Ride for Charlie was very nice, a nice relaxed ride out with a few hammery bits, Matt toasted the fallen from the tallboy and we passed it around until it was gone.

^^^ for those of you who missed it.

What length BB should I get for my GT? I was running an old mountain bike BB and it was fine but one of the cups was plastic and it broke on me last week. 103mm seems to be pretty standard but I have also seen 107mm ones out there, what do y'all use?

If you're using the same crank set, then get the same size BB.
One doesn't want to be fooling with chain-ring spacers;
Not too many anyway..

Maybe upgrade to a UN72 with a metal cup.
I'm pretty sure they have a metal cup.

I likez teh sealed BBs.

Gawd, what a horrible day to be on the road traffic-wise.

I've spent the last couple of days stripping the paint on the IRO frame I got last week and readying it for a repaint. I think Noah will get the nod on this as well, as I want the old bars I have done at the same time. I'm in no rush to finish building it anyway.

In other news, my Nagasawa arrived today up north! I work the weekend (gotta keep the power flowing to Ontario), but can go pick it up maybe Tuesday. I'll be riding it by Wednesday. I'm stoked!

Yay for rain... heh. Was about to head into the core for dinner when it just opened right up, so I decided to assign it to Captain Fuck.it and go for a walk instead.

Pretty much snapped my brake cable last night, so I've been cautiously riding around effectively brakeless - definitely keeps you on your toes not having that safety net Need to check my lever->cable bridge angles and see why it frayed/wore through in the first place. Bike's taking a beating anyway - done a tad over 500k in the last 10 days

For those still interested in the Mean Streets 200k...

The ride starts at 8:00am sharp at Allenby Public School located at Avenue Road and Castlefield. There is a parking lot right on Avenue road that we have used in the past. Please arrive by 7:45 so we have time for all the fun administrative stuff. As with all brevets please make sure you wear your helmet, have front and rear lights and that you have a safety vest or sash. Back up lights are recommended.
vainglorious, I won't be able to ride up tomorrow as I'm helping a buddy move house - would you want to do that ride on Monday? If not, we can go another weekend.

I crown myself the "Leader of Dumbass's"

I have a skill of not picking up on hints from girls... Anyways, went on what i though was old friends catching up, turned out to be more of a date (which i only realized on my ride home).

Instead of a story, i have decided to write the pros and cons of tonight.

Pro's:

Got to catch up with a good looking girl.

Con's:

Wore normal clothes rather then cleaning up a bit.
Rode in the rain without the riding jacket (which was apparently in my bag).
Didn't bring enough money for her ticket or food.
Missed all the, now blatant, moves that she made.
(heres a good one) Thought her putting her arm on mine on the armrest meant she wanted me to move my arm.
Missed the "Goodnight" kiss, thinking it was a hug.

and a bike related one.

Ran a stop sign behind a cop, then turned off the lights and raced through the neighborhood running away... although when it passed me a couple minutes later (i stopped at a stop sign and it rolled past) i saw it was only a parking cop.

hey don't worry stuart. us girls are surprisingly forgiving -- they are after all usually haplessly straightforward about these things (edit: err, men that is). if she was interested tonight i'm sure she'll be up for it again if you ask her out for the second.

sweetness, glad it arrived. tracking down one of those bad boys in the colour/size that i'm interested in is turning out to be pretty tough..

Ah,The Merrill Howard Kalin Cooking Show, been awhile since I've watched that. At one point I thought about showing it to mhy students. Public television at its finest. Got to love the salad made on the raw chicken slime.

RIP Merrill. Your James Brown impression was, well, something.

Nice, sorry I couldn't come today - I ended up missing the start of the Mean Streets ride (moving my buddy went WAY too late - didn't get in until 1).

Anyone up for a ride? I was thinking of heading up to Lake Wilcox to get at least /some/ km's in.

i feel like seeing what else i can break on my misfit

when your eating oreos, stop at the first row... by the second one you just feel sick, and when your partway through the third, you want to go back in time and not have eaten them

It is not a nice feeling when your saddle breaks on a pothole and the top of the seatpost rams your taint.
