I did some bombing around the back field /tracks/pit didn’t bother to wear my lid(bad me) or carry my backpack(tools) got a bad sunburn on my forehead & a flat tire 45min walk home that will teach me!
Cheers

Re: the city truck incident

Not that I actually know what I am talking about, but perhaps you might consider speakers corner?

Ok I need people to put their thinking caps on. I have a bike (possibly a few) to ship to the states. Im looking for options besides GREYHOUND courier, that are inexpensive. Anybody here shipped a bike to the states at a good price?

There are a million of them as you know but at my co. we use fed ex ground (not fed ex) as our daily shipper call for a quote i know they are cheaper then canpar, puro, ups. Actually Canada post as well never know. I’m sure there are more options.
Cheers

Actually.. not that I know what I am talking about but, my experience has been most of these companies dont do packages as large as bikes. Or they only cater to high volume customers.

Im thinking about canada post but putting bike in a few boxes, one for the frame, one for the wheels.

Any other reccomendations are welcome, I guess im looking for a gorund service that would take oversized boxes, once anything goes air the cost goes up.

Another option to speakers corner.. again not that I really have any clue what I am saying..might be approaching another station or something like NOW that is allover such unPC acts. Once again im not expert, and I proobably have no clue what im saying.......

Creative packing can get the size down. I've had bikes shipped north USPS and FedEx. My recollection from other discussions (and you may want to search this) is that shipping Canada -> US is more expensive than the reverse.

Anybody catch this poll asking 40 regular Toronto bike commuters by the Globe & Mail yesterday?

A few interesting findings:

I have an ACS claws freewheel that ratchets like a mad thing when I coast on it, so I couldn't hear anything remotely cog related anyway. Does it make the noise when you're loading it or coasting?

Talk about biased polling. Didn't realize Will ride through anything was a class of bike.

^^Well, it was an informal poll, and the interviewer probably chose bike commuters who are professionals and/or office workers rather than blue-collar workers; so the responses were self-selecting in that case. But I think it reflects the visiblity of bike commuters vs. regular joes who bike.

^^^It's called a cyclocross bike! (or I guess a fixie)

Didn't bother to read the second sentence, so that explains my rant above.

Bikes: gt gtb & marinoni pista special.

    a note to anybody:

don't EVER ride through wilket creek park trail (linked to edwards garden)
its the same as riding your bike through a beach.

and I finally found a good route to get downtown quick. my time today was around an hour and a 1/2. I'm aiming for around hour or so by summer vacation.

What's your route? It takes me about 1.5 hours to get from Yonge & Davis in Newmarket to Yonge & Sheppard, then another 30-45 minutes to get to the core.
