who knows... could be fun. I've been playing too much golf on x-box and now I've got the urge to go and play for real, despite only having ever played once.

Ill Mitch 05-02-06 11:52 PM

I've only played once too

We could play at Dentonia park golf course right a Victoria Park station it's a pretty easy one, all par threes.

Shiznaz 05-02-06 11:57 PM

15 bucks for 18 holes doesn't seem too unreasonable. I think anything above par three would be a little bit messy given my complete lack of skill/experience. I'll have to try to borrow a set of clubs from someone now. I can see myself biking there with a golf bag on my back... that should be funny.

Actually, according to Environment Canada it's supposed to go up to 25c and nearly calm winds. EDIT: oh and yeah, I am likely up for lunch. check back in and let me know what time. As it stands right now around 12:30 or 1:00 is probably good.

shiznaz: you can rent clubs there too afaik. If you guys are in, I'm totally in. :)

At least they aren't day-glo anything (... got a cruise missile in my backyard, what?)

I need some new MTB shoes too. How much are those ones, and where are you ordering them from?

TRaffic Jammer 05-03-06 07:22 AM

25....nice

STEEKER 05-03-06 07:57 AM

Dentonia park is a nice place to golf , I used it because it was close to home BUT they get very busy there so BOOK a tee off time ok earlier the better

STEEKER 05-03-06 07:57 AM

OH forgot -------------> good morning

TRaffic Jammer 05-03-06 08:13 AM

I took golf as a gym yeeeeeaars ago, never did end up playin' outside.
I'd have to hit a few buckets of balls first before destoying a course.

Call me divot man.....

STEEKER 05-03-06 08:16 AM

there is a driving range just south of Vicpark and danforth

Is anyone out there familiar with the route to U of T at Missisauga and can offer alternative ways to get there? This was just the most straightforward route I could plot without having done it before. The pedometer thingy I posted was actually made when I lived at Bloor and Palmerston (it's actually plotted backwards, from UTM back to downtown), but I've since moved 6 blocks away, so the start point isn't completely accurate. Reflections on the ride today:

1) Hell damn ass. Need padded gloves or cushier bar tape.
2) Hell damn ass. Need to adjust saddle.
3) Ooh, maybe I'll get pretty bike knickers like Robin and justify it with my commute.
4) My new UTW bag kicks major ass.

My only advice is when you're commuting out to mississauga is stay away from dundas st, as it become a major, 6-8 lane highway out there. try taking bloor to the end where it become central parkway, turn left on CP (SW) follow it until you reach burnamthorpe, west on burnamthorpe to miss road and south to the campus.

of course you could always take the lakeshore through port credit then go north on miss road and gaze at all the mansions. actually that's not a bad way to go either, if a bit longer. maybe 30km.

unfortunately there aren't really any "quiet" roads out there until you get to it's outer reaches, 6th line v/ burnamthorpe area.

TRaffic Jammer 05-03-06 08:36 AM

I got the docks range right here.
I'll always regret not playing that weird downtown course that was near skydome. Or riding it

jeremywhitehorn 05-03-06 08:43 AM

So, I've been slacking lately, drinking too much beer and eating too much crap and as a result getting a bit out of shape so i'd like to get back to getting out for weekly sunday rides of 100km+. So, i'll be
back to my usual sunday routine: stopping at jet fuel for a quick coffee before heading north out of the city, riding a brisk pace (no doddling), back in time for a late lunch. if this type of ride interests anyone please join me, i always like the company. i'll be at Jet Fuel at 9 on sunday morning. forecast is for sun and temps in the low teens.

TRaffic Jammer 05-03-06 08:53 AM

STEEKER 05-03-06 08:57 AM

So I guess you have had the odd beer at the duke

That sounds quite nice. Hopefully, later on in the summer when I start having actual days off I'll be able to join you for some of those rides. What time does your late lunch typically end up being?

usually about 2 or so. sometime i like doing rides where there is a stop at a bakery somewhere but generally riding solo i like to finish the ride sooner and eat at home with the wife.

Hah! I definitely did over half of the commute on Dundas. It was insane, but hilarious.

edit: Anybody want to go mini-golfing? It makes me feel like a giant. Joy!
