I converted my '97 Mongoose Iboc into a single back in 2004 - used the singleator and a cog spacer kit from urbane to get chain tension / chainline worked out on an XT rear hub - worked out just fine, and I've referred to the thing as the 'Tranq Tank' ever since, due to the inordinately high levels of exhaustion I achieve by trying to ride it as fast as my Ciocc ;)
Winterbourne - those grips WERE hot... I asked the guy derek (I think that was his name?) about it, and he said that he had fabricated them for about $10 from leather he sourced at a shop on king st. and some carpet tape. The trick, aparently, is that there's 2 layers of that fine fine leather there, sandwiched with carpet tape, for extra padding. I'm going to try it on my touring bike. |
I'm working with a dark purple 1993 Giant ATX-780 frame btw. I've had it since new. :)

Did you look at my bike i got a kit from misfitpsycles good guy's
http://www.misfitpsycles.com/catalog...hp/cPath/25_38 I broke my chain tensioner twice so i got the Rennen Rollenlager witch worked great but is expencive. If you find the magic gear like i did 44-16 you mAy not need one. give that guy a call to find out, he's local. Urbane probably has it as well now that i think of it? Cheers |

Sorry I missed you guys for the show. I broke a couple of ribs mountain biking on Saturday, and now I am laid out like an old man. How was the show?

The lovely antique patina shows the years of service these pedals have given.
Busted ribs...OUCH..... where were you riding and what happened dude? Hope you were with enough friends that you got out easily enough. |

there is some nice trails up by stouffvile side rd. and bayview ave... but it's 45 min to and hour just to ride there... and on mtb knobbies it can be exhausting after. Still a few times during the summer I'll make a day of it and go there on my own. and broken ribs suck, heal fast man [@ darkmother] |
Cavernmech are you the mech @ cavern cycles on Queen near Jarvis? I KNOW it sounds ridiculously obvious, so all the more reason to ask

That mountain biking thing at stouffville/bayview is like 3 km up the road from here heh :D If I had to pay $13 for the bike show, I would've been seriously pissed, but thanks to Traffic Jammers complimentary passes it was good. The flatland competition stuff was awesome, although I was expecting scantily clad women posing around bikes and stuff (nope). I was like the only chinese guy there and I felt seriously out of place. |
operator: flatland (in the main hall)? or the street comp (in the colliseum)?
And yeah, I'm also grateful I didn't spend $13. I enjoyed the pre-show coffee more. Especially since we could hang out on the front patio.. woo! Getting me excited for Spring already. :D Patio season! |
also known as the baddest ass in town. HELL YEA!

I built a nice SS out of a Miele frame and a spacer kit from Urbane but I didn't use a tensioner, is it really a necessary thing? I just finagled with it a bit and it seemed fine. I gave it away though, dumb thing to do, eh?
