If the fork crown is chromed that is prolly the problem. If you have a small round fine file you can file the inside diameter so it fits.

I'm going to try and make it out tomorrow at 1:30, but I can't say for sure if I'll be able to as I have to run a whole bunch of errands tomorrow and I don't know if I'll be able to get everything done before then.

Downtown was sweeet today ton's of people out so many bikes out there I poped in the bike joint to see if he had bigol track bars but nadda, bloody cold riding in the fog along the lake home

I ended up just filing down the mounting nut and it fit in fine. Better to mess up filing a nut than a fork after all.

I also couldn't shim the seatpost as it was just too much smaller than the seat tube, so I picked up a cheapy alloy post. I biked to cyclepath to pick it up without a seat or seatpost and everybody in the store asked me if they got stolen, heh.

I tried switching over my GS strada double cranks to the pinarello as well, but stupidly I just checked to see that the BB was campy, and ignored the fact that the spindle was severely too short for the cranks. I do still have the GS strada bb though so eventually I may install it and the cranks for a wicked classic italian look.

Taking the bike out for a test ride I want to keep it myself. Its got the most awesome geometry; its really poised and responsive and just a joy to ride. I now know why everyone is crazy about italian steel.

I had fun doing it(Friends for Life) except for going ass over tea kettle trying to make a light & not paying attention.

But all good. Nice to do a long ride by my standards

Friends for Life Bike Rally = fundraising ride for the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation. TPA does everything from meals on wheels to providing free medication, physical therapy, counselling, etc. etc. A lot of the people taking part in the ride are doing so because they've lost someone to AIDS or are battling HIV/AIDS themselves. Of course, others are just out to take part in a good cause and/or succeed at the physical challenge (or some of your cases today, come out for a fun ride).

Don't sweat the fall, Sweep - just patch up your coat and add it to the list of war wounds. ;)

Man I didn't even know you crashed!! Hope the road rash isn't too bad. If it's any consolation I fell doing 0.1kph on a "bike path" yesterday. I think my fork is slightly very slightly bent.

My gaydar went off just a little, but I was too busy hauling ass behind some people (some of those guys were fast).

Ya somnambu-tight-pants (HA) stuck with me for about 5 min I did most of the ride Phil i think & he was riding fixed brakeless.

Cool. I was thinking meet outside Bikes on Wheels at that time. There are some shows worth checking out at the Distillery "Rough Beauty" and this other one with composite photography using images found with Google. Then head out to Parkdale. Wrap up with a coffee somewhere. We'll figure it out.

The more the merrier.

Had an awesome time yesterday, meeting up with the BF gang (saw eyefloater, somnambulant, sweep242, and operator). Eyefloater, you are one fast dude on a fixie, I had the hardest time trying to pass you and had to wait for the hills. Actually, all you guys on your fixies are crazy, I wouldn't be able to do that. Oh, I saw an old guy on a unicycle, he's crazy too.

Biked to Finch Station from home (around the Highway 48 and Holborn Rd area), and then went downtown after the ride to visit some friends from U of T on Elm St. The ride back at 6 pm was fun, fun, fun right in the middle of rushhour, so I had lots of practise doing some lane-splitting.

Excellent use of gratuitous post scripts. I think I may add some drop bars to the bike for long distance riding. The headwinds on the second half of the ride absolutely killed me and I couldn't really find a way to get down low enough. Either that or maybe I could experiment w/ a clip-on aero bar (never really spent much time on one of them). Operator, can I borrow your's for an afternoon some time to try it out?

Edit: I may have been fast at times, but there was another fixed rider (namely, Somna) who dropped me on some climbs near the end of the day. :)

After seeing that roadbike with bullhorns, i'm tempted, very tempted to buy em and try it on for size. I hardly use the drops at any rate.

Maybe those to match my aer0bars. Does anyone make red aer0 levers? Does anyone use those TT levers on their bike? Is it inferior to regular aero levers?

It's funny though, because when we first started riding from the rest stop and you were on my ass and said to go faster or something (I didn't know if you were joking) I was pretty well at my fast-cruising pace, so I couldn't really go faster just due to gearing. But then when we turned South onto Dufferin things totally changed. I don't know why! What gear ratio are you running? 48x18 or something right? I'm running 46x16... maybe that was the difference in the hills.

And yeah, as per our conversation yesterday, I really want to build up something less practical and much lighter as well. I keep thinking that it would be nice to do all my training on the heavier commuter and then do the full ride on something lighter. It would feel like I have wings. :)

More of you guys should come out again though.. it was great seeing you all! Not to mention that I wasn't the only fixie for once. :D

That's what I always said, but on these longer rides I've really appreciated having drops, especially much of a head-wind.
