Without getting into the details of the bad service I recieved..and I had been a regular customer in there for a long time...it was Gary's comment of "if you don't like it open up your own bike shop!" that galled me the most. So I did. I have no problem with other shop's and I will refer people to ones that I like. I do have a problem with stuck up salespeople and outright rip-off's. Ever wonder why Pedlar went out of business? See above statement.
By the way...I have heard thru the grapevine that Gary is trying to sell the shop. Any bidder's?

STEEKER 05-13-06 09:01 AM

cavernmech, you buying Dukes ??

wasted weasel 05-13-06 09:09 AM

jesus this thread is running away, I don't logon often enough to keep up anymore...

on the topic of Dukes; there is a cute girl that works in the service department in the back (cute in a punk sort of way). Anyways... whenever I go there I'm usually looking for her to deal with.. HA:).

I seek out my own good service rather than wait for it... I only get an hour for lunch and it's a 20 minute walk from my work so I'm usually in a bit of a hurry, if there is something I need from dukes that I can't get from a closer shop.

On Avenue Rd. and Davenport? I thought it was still open. I got my first quality road bike there when they were on the south side of the street. Man, I'm reliving a moment right now. I remember doing rides up to King City after school in our Euro kits in grade 9 on that bike. Funny, I've probably only been back there twice since they moved, if in fact this is the place you're talking about, so your point's well taken.

edit: Make that east side of the street.

Yeah....when either Shiz hooks me up with a "transfer" into my bank account or I win the lottery...whichever comes first.

Operator: 4:00 is a bit late for me for a Sunday Contact/ride. I've got my parents coming over for dinner and yours truly is cooking. I was thinking around 1:30. If not I'm sure I'll head out next weekend too. So much to see.

STEEKER 05-13-06 09:56 AM

mmmmmmmm coffee / I have no idea what to do today

Shiznaz 05-13-06 10:06 AM

hmmm... so me and emma picked up her frame yesterday and I swapped over all the parts save a few minor problems. Those problems are that the recessed brake bolt is a tiny bit too wide for the recessed brake bolt hole in the fork. The brake bolt for the rear bridge fits fine and both bolts are the same size. Should I be looking for a smaller brake bolt, or should I file out the hole in the fork a smidge? The other problem is the seatpost is a little too narrow so I'll either have to shim it or get a bigger post. The last problem (not really a problem) is that I don't have a wrench to loosen the crank bolts on my campy cranks because they would be so much sweeter on the pinarello. pics are forthcoming.

Shiznaz 05-13-06 10:11 AM

what kind of a bike uses 2 different size brake bolts though? its insane.

STEEKER 05-13-06 10:21 AM

mine is the same

Shiznaz 05-13-06 10:21 AM

what did you do?

STEEKER 05-13-06 10:24 AM

yelled and swore , the shop wrencher used a smaller bolt

Shiznaz 05-13-06 10:25 AM

I see... so I'm filing away this nut in earnest?

STEEKER 05-13-06 10:27 AM

Shiznaz are you going to get her the blue rims to match the frame ?

Shiznaz 05-13-06 10:29 AM

Oook 1:30, anyone else?

Just got back from Fffffffffffriends for life. That **** is whack. People were pretty friendly, except that one guy who said you had to say on your left.

We gave him like FIVE METERS ON THE LEFT.

so I'll either have to shim it or get a bigger post.
