Yes and yes. AFAIK the meetup is right by the park & ride drop off, on the East side of the parking lot. Just look for the group of cyclists. :P

Not that I know of, unfortunately.

Man lots of groups use that as a start point. There was that edwards gardens start point for a TBN ride once and there were like 5 groups all starting from there.

And the person I asked before said "go there and look for the cyclists".

That's jokes ^^ lol.

OK. Well, look for the group of catty gay guys then. :D I assume that will set the right group apart from any other potential groups.

Cavernmech said he might carry KHS track bike in the future

operator 05-12-06 03:41 PM

A combo light ride/gallery crawl would be good. I've got to straighten out my commitments for this weekend but Sunday afternoon looks pretty open. If not, it's still on till the end of the month. Let me know. Operator sounds like he needs to drink up some photo culture. We could treat it like a public service. :)

Cavernmech do you have these bars in the shop??(TRK-BAR-NITTO01-2)

If by sunday afternoon you mean, 4pm and onwards, i'm up for it. For the record I used to do astrophotography with a 35mm full manual pentax SLR.

Good riddance - GM canceled the Hummer H1: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060512/..._ge/goodbye_h1

Hell yes, but what is with the chain sag? It's a photo shoot for Christ sake, can't we make it look presentable?

I like carbon, so *thumbs nose*:D

Found a bunch of references to the model going all the way back to the 80's

i wish bike companies would make more basic models aimed at the realistic needs of the urban rider, e.g., with eyelets/bosses for racks/water bottles/brakes; it is a shame it seems like schwinn/raleigh are aiming for the trend, rather than (stylish) practicality. i sigh as i see all those bikes (and the people who buy them) with full-suspension, disc brakes, 27 gears, etc., that are extraneous details for most people (as well as often low-quality).

a good friend here, who is very involved in the local cycling scene, will be opening his own repair shop told me that he will advertise/target niche high-end bikes (because of the profit margin vs. work), but would *much* rather be able to survive working on 'mamachari' bikes (the 'basket bikes' ubiquitous in japan), because he sees them as "a peoples bike", except that it would require a significant amount more work (as well, people often see their mamacharis as disposable, given the cheap prices...~$100-200...and, thus, do not worry much about repairs).

cavernmech, i am curious about your thoughts on the 'ideals' of operating a bike/repair shop in the current market back home?

admittedly, while i have heard a lot of crap about duke's, i have had good service myself. my road bike is from there, as well as a few pairs of SPDs. when one of my brake/shifter levers on my road bike went wonky shortly after i bought it, they just took another from another bike to put it on instead of waiting for shimano to warranty it; as well, when a strap on a pair of SPDs cracked after only a few months of use, they took them back and credited the full amount to another pair of shoes. i tend to find service at duke's is better if you already have an idea of what you want, rather than going in without research already done...not saying that is good, just that i have had decent service.

aside from the other good shops, e.g., urbane/cavern/biseagal/etc., of the 'bigger' (higher-end?) shops, i have had good service at 'wheels of bloor' and 'chain reaction', too. 'sporting life' is sucky.
