I got a notice in the mail the other day informing me that I only have 3 points left on my license. Which is funny, since I don't drive. Apparently, every time I get a fine for running a light on my bike, the points roll off. Yee haw! Soon I'm not going to be a bicycle commuter by choice, but by nessesity. Especially if I don't have time to go to the court office tomorrow and set a date for my latest stopsign running ticket.

Anyone know how many points you lose for running a stopsign?

Talk to a Justice of the Peace and they will have those points taken off of your record. You just explain that it had nothing to do with your car and that you were on your bicycle when the infractions occurred. Also, be sure to call your insurance company and let them know that you are getting the points off of your record and be sure to mention the JP by name and there shouldn't be any problems. I love the JPs down at Old City Hall, they are all awesome and very understanding folks.

I laughed my ass off, whata tool.

DM I think Keith wrote a piece here as to what and how they aren't allowed to burn your license points. It has to say bike/bicycle on the infraction, otherwise it's assumed to be a car and points are deducted. It is not allowed to do anything to your license based on your biking adventures, no matter how fun they might be. Tickets$$$$ yes, points no.

Same thing happento me I got Three demerit points on my Drivers license, for running a red light on my bike, and the funny part, is my drivers license is still a G 1, I don't own a car.
and Idon't intend to buy a car much less drive a car, I got the license for Identification purposes, because our health Card are not being honored as a ligitimate Identification.

If he was a little kid, I'd have felt terrible. I'm not an insensitive monster, ok sometimes.. He flew at a vert wall obviously with the intention of riding the tranny and doing something cool. No helmet, and he totally missed. Throwing yourself a wall and missing is good comedy. I'm glad he was ok though, I'd not have laughed if he had been seriously hurt. I'd have been pissed if my buds just stood around and kept filming, shoulda spit blood and teeth at them. I knocked my two fronts out as well(swallowed one at 6yrs) in a high speed wagon (pushed by big neighbour kid), and push car collision.

Deceleration trama at it's finest.

Typical interaction with J.P. regarding demerits on bicycle.
J.P. "What can I do for you today?"
Keith. "Well I received a ticket for fail to stop and want to remedy the situation"
J.P. "Well the standard demerit deduction for fail to stop is 3 demerit's"
Keith. "yes I know...However this infraction took place while I was riding my bicycle"
J.P. " A Bicycle!!...mutter's under breath...Give this paper to the clerk outside my office...she/he will take care of it. Have a nice day".
Never, Ever, use your driver's license for I.D. when pulled over for a moving violation on your bike and you can avoid the hassle of a typically 3 hour visit to Old City Hall. A health card won't get you in the bar but will suffice for the local constabulary.

I've had good experience with justice of the peace action too. Are you saying that I can get my points back after the fact-like after I've been convicted and paid my fines?
