my 'good' fixie....btw if anyone knows where I can buy an anodized 'blue' KMC chain let me know...
http://www.topix.com/tom-ass/iro-right.jpg
and my old fixie/convert before I hit a car with it... then hit another car with it... then retired it.

no face shot, but I bet I'm the only person rocking 2 blue LED's on my lid.... you'd know it if you saw it.

How do you like the IRO? It looks awesome.

darkmother 12-15-05 09:31 AM

King headset....that's pimped out. Daddy likes....

wasted weasel 12-15-05 09:46 AM

yeah I scored a deal on it at the fall bike show... like $80 I think (slightly used)...but BLUE baby!
Had to wait a few weeks for the nitto drops to come in (i got em at urbane)... track bars are sweet I've never owned/ridden a pair before.
I finished building the wheels the first day it started snowing heavy I was still able to toss an old chain and cog on it from the other bike and ride it around for 15 minutes or so and 'unload' the spokes... but I haven't had the heart to take it out in the slop since...*shame*...

ambrosio rims, iro hubs, frame and cranks all came from bikophile!

Weasel, I fell in love w/ your "retired" bike when I saw in on the FGG. Great story behind that one. You get bonus points for all the work you put into it.

where i am coming from...

we're swappin' hemispheres. sorry fixedude but i probably won't catch you on the rebound.. i get back on jan15 and you'll probably be back by then. i'm hoping to catch some keirin in shizuoka! great pics by the way... japan is damn hilly...

sir robin: your roomie sees my sannino a lot? perhaps there's another one in toronto..??

weasel: nice colour scheme on the iro. naked drops are damn sexy...

jet sanchEz 12-15-05 11:51 AM

Man, I love GT frames. They just look so nice. I would bet they would be pretty stiff for a fixed ride as I find my GT Karokoram mountain bike is stiff-riding. There is a titanium GT track bike up on eBay right now, hrm......

Ya, she says she has seen it at Bikes on Wheels in the market a few times, Recognized it right away. Could there be two lucky Sannino riders in town??

eyefloater 12-15-05 01:35 PM

I saw another one for sale online last night as well. Hell, someone should pick it up and complete the trifecta. ;)

gokiburi 12-15-05 02:38 PM

guilty as charged... that was most likely me at bikes on wheels in kensington. actually, i just use their rack to lock up while i go for groceries and coffee!! i guess they're going to nab me next time eh... i've bumped into cavit8 in kensington.. cav, operator, bikeophile and shiznaz and myself have also ridden there to check out parts unknown. otherwise, i haven't seen any other forum members there. whatever happened to "let's meet there for coffee next week in july."

Sirrobinofcoxly 12-15-05 02:52 PM

I actually work down at Bikes on Wheels now and then on weekends, but not so much in the winter. I bet I have run into some people and don't even know it.

Also, just got back from drooling over the 2006 Bianchi pista at Curbside. Oh if I only had enough cash to pick it up for a winter bike. Oh what a world

i've often spotted a messenger on a shiny 2004-5? pista with a tennis ball in his rear spokes in the kingW area.. that would be a pricey beater..

Though better than my surly with the Phil hubs and BB. I know they could take the abuse, but why? They look so damn good. I gots to get a winter bike. Still on the hunt.

I just read this thread:
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...46#post1930746
and it seems they're raffling off 15 pairs of Phil Wood Hubs to 1 lucky winner.
Minimum donation is $50 bucks, I'm pretty intersted and was wondering if 4 other people would also like to chip in $10 bucks with me.
We'd split 3 pairs of Phils each!

eyefloater 12-15-05 09:02 PM

You just may be able to talk me into that ... maybe.

sr20det 12-15-05 09:17 PM

cool aero bars !

eyefloater 12-15-05 09:34 PM

Okay, I'm bored and I could use an opinion or two, so here goes ...

Spring Bike Build (best bang for the buck):

Frameset:
frame - IRO Angus (56cm, black like my future)
fork - Bike Works NYC straight blade - or - dig through the pile of used forks at work

Wheelset:
rims - Mavic CXP33 (silver, 32/32)
hubs - Formula (silver, fixed / free, 120mm)
spokes - DT Revolution (silver, 2/1.5/2)
nipples - brass
tires - Vittoria Rubino (black like my future, 23mm)

Drivetrain:
cranks - Miche Primato Pista (165mm)
chainring - 48 tooth (1/8")
bottom bracket - Miche Primato Pista (107mm)
chain - KMC Z510HX (1/8")
sprocket - EAI 17 tooth (1/8")
freewheel - White Industries 16/18 double freewheel (3/32" I'm assuming, 1/8" if I can get it)
lockring - Dura-Ace
pedals - MKS GR-9 + MKS mini clips - or - Crank Brothers Eggbeaters SL

Ass Bucket:
saddle - Selle Italia SLR
seatpost - Kalloy aero Campagnolo rip-off

Cockpit:
headset - Shimano 105, Ultegra ... something w/ a cartridge bearing - suggestions?
stem - threaded ... depends on bars - suggestions?
bars - dunno ... "won" an eBay auction for some Mavic pursuit bars, but the seller disapeared
grips - cheesy Keirin grips
brake - Tektro ... dual pivot caliper ... RX 40, RX 20G, 423AG (silver) - suggestions?
brake lever - Tektro cyclocross (silver)

jet sanchEz 12-15-05 10:57 PM

^^^
Brakes? ;)

I've seen the black formula hubs and they are really nice. Would those work nicely with black rims and black spokes and a black frame? Or too OCP?

eyefloater 12-15-05 11:04 PM

Shush, you.

I'm not a fan of black hubs or rims. Plus, I've got it on good authority that Santa's bringing me two silver Formula's for giftmas (well, that and the fact that my gf asked me if I wanted fixed/fixed or fixed/free when she was on the phone w/ Business Cycles). Thanks for the idea though - it's appreciated.

sr20det 12-15-05 11:10 PM

haha, I was over at Urbane today talking to a super duper guy named Steve (if your here, I love you!) and he came up with the CRAZIEST/SMARTEST idea ever!
Silkscreen NJS logo's onto T-shirts and making them only for Toronto riders and just wearing em' for fun.
I know its probably illegal/fringing on copyright laws but... dang, NJS is too darn cool!
what do you say guys?

eyefloater 12-15-05 11:19 PM

... just as soon as I become a sponsored Keirin rider ...

sr20det 12-15-05 11:48 PM

remember to get me a T-shirt!
and some pants while your at it. :p
