”haha" riding home story: so i'm going east along king when some overzealous asshat in a range rover tries to cut into my lane to pass a car turning at yonge. i don't budge and he's forced to swerve back and be .743 seconds slower reaching his destination. i pass him again at sherbourne and glare into the car. redneck driving big honking suv single passenger. he's stuck in traffic and i'm blowing by traffic until king/jarvis when i notice headlights from behind quickly getting brighter. i take the entire lane and slow right down to cruising speed. HEADLIGHTS EVEN BRIGHTER! i know it's the assbag so at this point i'm not even pedalling and letting momemtum carry me. as we reach the intersection he totally cuts me off and blows by, i hear him exclaim "as$hole!" which prompts me to wave and blow a kiss at him. i'm chuckling to myself until parliament where i see assmunch pull into the staples which again, prompts me to give him a big wave hello. i'm whizzing by and i hear yell "c'mon you little punk, i'm right here!" haha the asslick was probably even redder in the face/neck and stomping with both feet, little jets of steam shooting out of his ears. it was hard to wipe the grin off my face the rest of the way home.

I'll be on campus, hopefully it's not dripping wet before I leave in the morning so I can ride down without getting soaked.

If you're not soakin' when you get there, you're riding too slow. Rob, I'm off between 12:00 and 2:00. I can meet you somewhere's around there, let me know where. Eugene, I can meet similar -- I may head down to Ideal for a caffeine somewheres before my class at 2:00.

1pm, meet you at the med sci place like last time. Goki, that's up on the SE corner up Kings' College road where you're doing that big circle.

Yeah, I think that you can get a really really nicely equipped but nicely used bike for $800; I picked up my Specialized Roubaix Elite for just a little more than what you will pay for that Trek with taxes and everything and it is full Ultegra with a bit of Dura Ace. Then again, it is clearout time in the bike shops and you may be able to get a good price on the '06s but yeah, I'd aim for something at least with 105 for the drivetrain.

Hey Mitch, Kaibot,

Do you guys have any more of those 105 brake calipers, specifically the front I can buy off of you or from Cycle Solutions?

Cheers!

Well, if you're pushing something I guess you'd have to go with a Marzocchi 66-series fork, but I'm not that well versed on suspension goodies these days. It seems pretty rediculous to me though (7" travel, single-crown). I was going to suggest single-speed, but I didn't realize it was a vertical dropout. Chain tensioners make me sad in the pants... so I guess that means single ring up front with a bash guard, or perhaps the Shimano Saint crankset with the dual ring + bash guard. I don't know much about that line though, so it could suck.

I got visited by the flat fairy on the way to work at bathurst and front. I didn't have a spare tube and I didn't feel like sitting on the side of the road in the rain trying to patch it so I just picked up the bike on my shoulder and walked from bathurst to bay. Thats 5 punctures in 3 days! Now I have to patch it over lunch or after work so that I can get home. Maybe I'll walk over to Europe bound and just pick up some tubes.

yeah I've been running these tires for over 2 years (!!) and did my majority of riding on them, commuting and long distance (!!) and I learned how to skid on them (!!) but I love them and hate to think of replacing them. I'm going to be switching to my winter tires in a few weeks anyways.

Asphault, stairs, ledges, etc. "Urban Freeride" if you will ... built to go fast and ride through/over/off anything.
