Well, I guess someone else in TO has a dark grey spicer. I didn't think it was shiznaz, but I wasn't certain.QUOTE]
Thats Emilio and yes.......he is a newbie.

somnambulant 01-09-06 08:30 AM

ahh.. cool. I was wondering if it was someone we knew or not!

I rode for the first time in over 3 weeks this morning. I figured I'd give myself nearly 3 weeks of healing since I broke my rib before I got back on again. Didn't bother me much (except for my lunch jabbing me right there from my bag), but man I feel like a sack of **** in the saddle after being away even for only a few weeks!

cavit8 01-09-06 11:26 AM

How's the snow over there. BBC has shown some horrendous dumps.

somnambulant 01-09-06 11:38 AM

I think I'm about to take a horrendous dump as well.. it might even make the BBC. ;)

darkmother 01-09-06 12:47 PM

Hey, where do you guys get your buns? I was looking for this restaurant I heard about on the CBC a few months back, I believe it is called Mothers, or something like that-but I can't find it. I think it is around kensington mkt. somewhere. I've tried the place across from Swatow on spadina, what else is good?

somnambulant 01-09-06 12:52 PM

darkmother: I've never been there, but this is what you're looking for:

Mother's Dumplings
79 Huron Street,
Toronto, ON M5T 2A8

Cool, thanks man.

sr20det 01-09-06 03:59 PM

somnambulant, is that your urbanite?
Mother's Dumplings is pretty damn cheap, pretty much the same prices for all hong kong styled cafe's. 5-6 bucks for a full meal and drink.
If your real stinge try going to most chinese bakeries and pick up 6 buns for 3 bucks.
also, you guys should try Korean BBQ if your not vegetarian.
I live in scarborough so I am absolutely CLUELESS about dt.

In the spring you guys should take me on a sightseeing tour of downtown.

See, there's some days you post something... look at it and think, "there's an easy lob, but who would be lowbrow enough to take it".... :D

DM - we often get our buns at Kim Moon bakery on Dundas.

operator 01-09-06 04:51 PM

Bah, the only riding i've done lately is on the bus, to finch (lame).

i haven't been so regular myself lately.. as for snow, it's been really bad in parts of northern japan (we're talking about 2 meters of snow) like akita and niigata. lot of older houses collapsing under the weight and killing people, mostly seniors. a lot of train service disruptions too. but it hasn't been too bad in the rest of japan (tokyo, osaka, kyushu region). it's been chilly with only a few patches of sun. it was really warm in shizuoka (smack dab between osaka and tokyo) the other day though. they've got a nice keirin track there but everything has been closed the last 2 days for a national holiday.

Dude, I'll always be there for you. :P

sr20det: nope, not my urbanite. But just thought I'd post up a local.. especially since he also says:
http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/arti...fixedgroup.htm

here's the group's url: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/torfix/

do you guys know anything about this?

eyefloater 01-09-06 06:57 PM

Well, FedEx showed up today while I was at work. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be the proud owner of a brand spankin' new frame. *joy*

somnambulant 01-09-06 07:05 PM

sweet. I'm looking forward to checking it out! The pictures I've seen look pretty nice.

eyefloater 01-09-06 07:18 PM

Side note: I'm watching the debate (streamed off the CBC site) right now and if I hear "accountability" one more time I'm going to ****ing scream. It's Canada's "Now, more than ever ..."

They were on the board for a bit and had a website with some of their group rides before, apparently, one of them bought a smart car. His handle was Aerofix and the group used to do monthly fixed rides. I was going to go to one and decided to sleep in instead.

Some of the names that I recall were Jeremy Whitehorn, Alan Thwaits and I think Phil Piltch.

operator 01-09-06 07:59 PM

Shiznaz rode with that group, ask him.

yes shiznaz did ride with us once i think last year but i think i scared him off with a crazy pace; we should take 2 on that one...

you can get buns in the buns/bakery shop on spadina between queen st and dundas/college.

also a very good buns/dimsum place, all they do is takeout/standing room only, on baldwin st. east of beverley, just south of u of toronto.
