Whee! I swapped the conti gp 3000s off my spicer and put them onto the cx bike. It really flies! Me and my buddy were doing quarter mile (or some kind of arbitrary distance between 'the concrete line and the orange lamp post') standing start drags down at the ex. I didn't even have enough enough time to shift to the highest gear. I think we nearly gave a family a heart attack as we flew by on both sides of them at 50+km/h

Anybody read this novel?
Bottom Bracket takes place in Kensington and follows a feminist bike-courier through her life in the market and her entaglement in a murder on her street. Kind've a clever title, eh? VIVIAN MYER launches BOTTOM BRACKET Gladstone Hotel Ballroom, 1214 Queen St. W, Toronto Tues, Oct 24, 7:30-10pm (doors 7pm), free Anyways, I work at a chain bookstore now so if anybody needs some books, I get a discount. |
Wow, that could be so indescribably.... living on the edge in Kensington market?
Will there be food at the book launch? |
Hey any luck finding your bike?
The book sounds interesting as well. Cheers |

Lockrings both sides, real track nuts. $25 shipped. Win. I don't know about a *good* bowl of ramen, but I was thinking Konichiwa (sp) in Baldwin Village.
|
Not ramen but soba saturdays at Hiro remain the only reason to go to that place. The noodles are glorious. I wish we could get ramen like they have in Little Tokyo in NYC...heaven.
Also if anyone is interested in a 416 cell phone number I have one with the old city fido plan (unlimited incoming and outgoing calls anywhere in toronto for 60 a month everything in) its not going cheap but I'll give you guys first strike if anyones interested. |

Will there be food at the book launch? No luck with finding the bike yet, but Mike's offered some cool discounts on some bikes I might be interested in. |

about hiro.. really underwhelmed with that place. i can't say i'd recommend it to anyone. the handmade soba is good if you don't mind spending about $30 to be a high class nooodle boy. it might not be as fancy but tokyo grill on yonge/wellesley has a similiar soba special for about $7. it used to be the last saturday of every month but this was years ago. for better kaiseki: sakura, hashimoto or kaji is a better bang for the buck and experience. if you just want fish, sushi marche all the way! and for bike content: is anyone thinking about getting their winter beaters ready? ready=dusting the cobwebs off. |
bahahahaha.. looked up "pho" on wikipedia (I'm a wikipedia addict, what can I say?) and it says:
"There was a restaurant in Vancover, BC Canada named "Pho Bich Nga."" I remember seeing that while I was there in 2000 with my band and we all totally lost it. It was a catch phrase for several months afterwards. |
Myeh I've heard good and bad regarding Hiro. I tend to only go with people who are serious regulars there and get seriously preferential treatment, plus I'm rarely complaining. My experiences have been good to great but I can definately see that some others who dined there have had problems. Such is life in the restaurant business one person's perfection is another's nightmare. Anyways hope some of you are enjoying the ridiculous weather today. Damn 12 hour days...
