last month's ride was much faster than usual. that being said, despite my (mec lobster) gloves, balaclava, hat, neck bandana and leg warmers (+1) i was very, very glad i only had to go a short distance. i guess i'll just have to play it by, er, feel!

edit: i can't believe how many folks i saw on my way home that weren't wearing hats! people might think I'M crazy for riding my bike, but at least I know how to dress for the weather.

I don't agree with this. Shooting for sport (olympics) is different from using it to kill someone. Just because something can be used to kill someone doens't make it inherently evil, nor can you just slag it off on the "no other use" category. By this line of reasoning anything that can be used to harm someone should be banned?

If the sole goal of the object is to kill another person, yeah, it should be banned. If you REALLY want to shoot for sport, shoot a shotgun or a rifle. Seriously, its the same thing. The only reason to want a handgun is to look or feel cool and tough, or to kill or wound someone. If you want to pretend to be Jack Bauer, go south.

My IVI sport shooting involved a nice light .22long rifle with custom hand grip. Always wanted to try biathlon. You can goto the range with your 9.

My step father has a shotgun and a beautiful Beretta9. His competitions involve mock towns with targets jumping out from hiding spots, a little too close to military situational simulators for my liking. All are in the states and they were more concerned at the border about the tee shirts he was bringing back than the weapons in his trunk.

no, just the things that are designed to kill people should be banned. if you are claiming that handguns have other legitimate, practical uses other than harm and murder, you're reaching.

But why? People who are going to use guns to kill people and commit crimes will get them regardless of any written laws.

Designing weapons to kill people is a necessary evil. I'm sure you're familiar with the concept of MAD. Anyways - I like bikes.

I thought everyone that was into bikes was a little weird? That's cool with me

I'm not for thug violence, but telling a legit target shooter to use a rifle instead of a handgun is like telling someone to ride a bike with a freewheel 'cause it's the same thing as a fixed.

I think its more like telling someone who drives a Navigator that they have to drive a Camry because they are destroying the planet.

PS. Marijuana is illegal. Handguns are legal. Something has got to be wrong here.

Keith mentioned approximately 80$ in duties on delivery if anyone is thinking about the IRO buy. I'm torn.

This is the most sense I've seen in this latest thread..... Ah the good old days of the hotbox cafe and not (il)legal herb....

And no one's up on that beautiful Guerciotti.... I think I'll have to cut me feet off.

It is crazy hot, no? I want to do this someday with my Ciocc, update it with the latest neato crap and ride the hell out of it. Incidentally, did anyone here score that Puch for $65 on the weekend? That is the best deal I've seen on CL in ages and the person who posted it was very nice, emailling everyone back to say that it was gone.

I think it has potential. Too small for me though. And I scooped that Mag 21 for my SS mtb project so I have no $$ anyway...

As I understand it, the guys with the handguns are the ones supplying the pot.

If any of the dealers I used to know tried to use a handgun they'd shoot their foot right off and you'd end up driving them to the hosptial in exchange for a dimebag.

Uh, since when are handguns legal, aside for sporting club purposes i.e target shooting. Last time I checked they were still illegal, and target pistols had to be kept locked at the range/shooting club.

Weed is now decriminalized. About time too.

I'm cranky today because I missed out on the raceface cranks on CL. $60 for cranks, 3 rings and b/b. Crap. Then I had Pol. Economy of Public Policy at York tonight. And tomorrow I have to be a scribe and write some kids answers for his exam. And it's cold and I haven't had a smoke today and that makes me really cranky.

Well someone responded in the list... (I'm guessing it was jet!).

I didn't respond, sounds like the poor girl has enough problems.

Ummm... the marijuana decriminalization bill never got past committee on the second tabling. Unless somethings happened that I dont' know about (in Harper's Canada????). Decriminalization just means they can slap you with a $150 fine instead of ignoring you because it's too much bother to charge you for possession of less than a gram.

on a bike related topic, i meant to respond to wes' comment from yesterday that last night was a great night for a ride. i thoroughly enjoyed my ride home from work. tonight even, nice moonlit night, bundle up and don't worry about the cold. i hate to admit it, but i went for a run through high park and remembered how nice the night can be for exercise. not much point to this post really.

Heheh, nope, not me. There are a couple of postings now, one asking what fixed gear is and another explaining it. I think there must have been another posting as well because she says that someone else shares the same love for fixed gear riders. Odd.

Last night, I had the same feeling. There was no one around and the only thing I could only hear was my tires slicing through the snow. Nice sound, great feeling.
