Actually, I meant to take it down 6 months ago. Robin sent me fierce legal threats by email, otherwise I would have completely forgotten (I haven't been on here in about a week). I'll let your money do the talking in a month when I start raising funds for the 2007 ride.

Well, next time I'll bring a camera and a tape recorder I should have just went on my merry way and ignored the guy but I let my adrenaline get the better of me. The guy didn't look like he had the balls to kill someone, so I pretty much took it that he had no points of debate so he lowered himself to making threats. I just hate to imagine myself spending all the time necessary to go through all the legal processes, especially in a situation like mine with no physical evidence and pretty much just heresay.

I was just offended that he had the audacity to threaten to kill me. Thats why I asked him if he really meant it. I was just thinking to myself whoa get a hold of yourself man, you're going to kill YOURSELF with blood pressure like that!

I deposited a nice dirty lugey on his windscreen so he either had to wipe it off by hand, or get it smeared all over his windscreen with the wipers. hehe what a sucker.

I don't mean to be pessimistic about our legal system.....scratch that...I DO mean to be pessimistic. No cop is going to make the effort to charge someone. Half the people I know who have been run down by cars don't even get the satisfaction of seeing the driver charged. Half the reason for "bike rage". You know nothing will ever happen...so I might as well remove the passenger side mirror so that..a, he is reminded of his transgression...b, cause he doesnt use it anyway. I don't *cough cough* condone this type of *cough cough* behavior, but understand why people resort to it.

Yeah, I've heard that before too and I thought the same thing....that they are taking things waaaaaaaaay too seriously. It's like they become a different person when they get in their car because they would never say that to someone in another situation. Weird.

Also, I think zippered is right, this is illegal but yeah, the type of person who is going to utter a death threat is also the type of person who would laugh in your face if you told them you were going to the police over it. However, if there are witnesses, then it is a different story. When I was out in the paramedic truck a vagrant threatened to kill my partner in front of a couple of officers and boom, he was thrown in the back of the car and charged without hesitation. I guess it depends on the situation.

oh, trust me, i completely understand! i just think it's important to know what your rights are. not to quote the law per se, but at least call someone on what they are doing. of course that can be hard to do when your adrenaline is pumping, but the more you practice the easier it will be. plus, in this case there were witnesses.

btw there's a story as i right this on the CBC news regarding traffic gridlock and unsafe behiour of cars and pedestrians.

The other consideration is, if you file a complaint, at least there's a track record if 'roid boy does go ballistic in the future on someone and they do get around to charging him.

Glad all it ended up being was a phlegm shot. I can only imagine the kids getting all this in the back. As a father it saddens me to no end. I think you handled it really well all things considered. Dude sounds like a walking emergency visit, he's going to pop something important.

A little gem..... when the "guy" goes to get out back up a little.
He'll get out behind the door, when the first foot touches the ground.
Stomp on the door.

Seen it..it's evil.

Edit ..snaked the kids on their toboggan run in the park on Greenwood today. The way they were gawking you'd think I hovering in a flying saucer. I guess Riverdale is next. I'm liking this park thing with the snow the way it is.

This is an excellent point and I'd never considered it before. Jotting down the plate number and a description might be enough to put him/her in the police system.

Is it a hassle filing?

I wouldn't think so. If he was just being the average prick in a car, sure but this was an overt threat. If someone made death threats to me or tried to assault me with their vehicle, I'd file if I could. Hopefully none of the kids drops a valuable at home...
I've called in cars that are driving recklessly (and I'm talking extremely reckless here). I'd much rather risk a hassle filing than have a pregnant mom run over in a cross walk or someone killed because of a reckless fool...

i've done it. i didn't hear back from the cops, but it sure as heck felt satisfying.

that's rather ironic considering my, um, past, um, interactions with toronto's finest. there are two options 1) call the NON-emergency number 2) go to the precint for the area and ask to fill out a form. i don't drive and have no idea about car-types but i've found it a challenge to remember details like make and model.

of course i know that someone could possibly turn my behaviour around on me (except that i don't have to worry about insurance rates, suckers) so i *try* to keep that in mind. it's a challenge.

In the GTA region we have the "road watch" program. The guy doesn't really annoyed until like the 3rd or 5th complaint whereas they get paid a visit from the police. But other than that nothing happens.

ok, so when someone gets a bad drivers information post it here, and everyone will file a report on them so they get a nice visit from the police.

Alright, I picked up the Bottacchia last night and fiddled around with it today. Still need to decide, fixed or s/s. For some reason I'm leaning towards a 2 ring 2 cog 's/s' setup. What I need first though is to figure out a way to get the seatpost out. It's tighter than Rush Limbaughs grip on Qualudes. Also, what are decent (read cheap but durable) 700 rims? I think I am going to keep the hubs that came with the wheels, but not the lovely steel rims. I like the wingnuts.

Edit: Oh bad photo, couldn't find the camera, had to use the cellphone one.

Bikes: Menonite black urbanite, probably enough spare parts to make anther one.

wingnuts are awsome in so many ways, good decision to keep them. as for rims i'd say mavic ma3; i've never been dissapointed by them, not pricey and they stand up if you have the wheels built well. you could probably get cheaper Alex rims but i find that they wear really fast (at least mine did) if you ride in bad weather conditions.

good luck with the seatpost. see what keith has to say about that issue.

+1 on the Mavic MA3s, I have them on my Fuji and they've held up quite well, very affordable too.
