If by straight edge you mean having spent a large period of time without consuming illicit drugs or alcohol then yes.
If by straight edge you mean one of those really annoying kids who tries to get everyone else to stop doing what they want then no. |

chocolate milk is a favourite of long-distance cyclists. think of it as an energy drink. this is why i don't buy chocolate, ice cream or really any sweets because if they are in the house they will be gone in one sitting. |
Doens't the milk spoil relatively quickly?

Just make sure you remember whats in them 'cause um well sometimes you get hungry and forget that the chocolate brownies have other effects and then well you end REALLY safe. |
i've been doing Harm Reduction work for a couple years now. it would be strange for me not to drink, because even as a wee one it was always just around... i remember having hot toddys when sick, a taste of wine with dinners etc. not being able to be safe would be even harder because it just helps with pain/nausea/anxiety and such things so well. aw crap speaking of work...
ps. speaking of booze: i've given up trying to acquire a taste for scotch. yes, it evaporates off the palate blah blah blah it still tastes like burning to me! |
So I walked over to the local Timmies for my 1st tea of the day. There is a bike lane that runs right out front and needless to say it is more often than not filled with the parked cars of people getting coffee. This morning however there was a parking ticket cop hiding in a little alcove ticketing everyone who stopped in the bike lane. A continuing trend perhaps? Lets hope so. I almost bought him a coffee.

^^WORD!!^^
Due to an error in grade three math, I am actually only turning 41. I suppose it could be my 42nd year  I used to be a beer fish and stopped for 6 months and it did me a world of good, now years later I'm a much better drinker in terms of being moderate. Tobacco has simply got to go. I hadn't factored that in Keith but now that you mention it, whyTF not eh? ;) You seem to be doing well without the smogs. As for the other....an opportunity to clear me head. Looking at it like a reboot of the meat. |

As for the straight-edge thing, I've never been much of a drinker, never smoked a regular cigarette in my life and I've never bought/owned any drugs. It wouldn't take much for me to give it up altogether, but I do like a nice cold beer on a warm Summer day. :P I don't consume enough of anything "bad for me" to really motivate myself to give it up for health reasons. I've never understood cigarettes, but maybe it's because I've never smoked any. I don't get the attraction in any way (other than simply addiction, of course). also: chocolate soy milk is awesome. Regular chocolate milk is also good, but I've heard nasty stories (which are probably untrue urban legends) that have turned me off of it permanently. |

I want to be cool too!!
|
I remember how and why I started cigs, and how easy it is to get sucked back into it after you've quit. I can attest to it's addictive qualities, man those chemists sure know their onions.
|
hehehe.. I rest my case. :D

I quit smoking (again) after almost 10 years. It's been a total grudge match this time but I'm resigned to it. I think it's been well over a month now ... kind of lost track. In my mind, this is just "it" so I haven't worried much about it.
I quit doing drugs after a morning where I realized I'd grown accustomed do doing regularly doing enough drugs to kill a normal person several times over. I never liked smoking weed but would unfortunately gravitate to combinations of stronger drugs. Then a few years later there was a long term addiction to synthetic morphine that landed my ass in detox. Not exactly fun times, but that's how it goes. Drinking ... never been a drinker - thanks violent drunk dad! I do love an ice cold lager at the end of a day or a few vodka sevens if I'm out. That **** costs too much though and hang-overs don't jive with my current "getting **** done." lifestyle. |

ps. nice runnin' in to you last night. You called out to me just as I was about to yell at the jackass on the motorbike blocking my way. :P |

Oh, Mike congrats on the smoking thing...and um, did the fenders come in yet? |
When I get a place of my own I am buying one of those really expensive 'volcano' vapourizers for safety applications. They're like over 500 bucks but in the long term well worth it. They work AMAZINGLY too! I'm not really all that worried about toxifying myself but I know I'm definitely not doing my lungs any favours (I even had a tiny bit of a wheeze after sprinting into a headwind on front today). As for drinking, 2 cold beers on a hot day is like a meal with a side of vitamins. I'd hate to not have that in my life!
|
Tried cigarettes once... and only once. I don't feel any different and I get all light headed. Haha. I gave the rest of my pack to some bum at the subway station.
|
Okay, I'm making the executive decision to change the scotch tasting to Thursday, May 3rd. PM me if you have any social conflicts in case we need to reschedule.
