I just read an article that Steve Balmer, CEO of Microsoft is certain that the iPhone will fail. People don't want a closed system, they are much better off using something with the Windows phone system on it.
But, he was right on the Zune! :D My favourite quote: "I'll bet our ads will be less edgy. But my 85-year-old uncle probably will never own an iPod, and I hope we'll get him to own a Zune." |
I'm of the mind that the iPhone is indeed doomed. Too $$, closed to one network in a take-your-number world, too much crap on a single device...lose/break and you are eff'd. to a Windows phone system ... I shudder to think.

Will the iphone be successful? It depends what it means to be successful. It will be sold out for months and they'll make huge money on it. Will it be as popular as a Razor? No. But it will be pretty big, I think. |

Not closed to one network..... by auction it is available exclusively to only one. So they'll have made their money twice. Brilliant AND irritating in that regard. A phone as an Ipod.. well we'll see how it plays out...if the life cycle of ppl's ipods are any indication, then this is one expensive toy. I can see phones being finally allowed to go from one network to another now that # portability is in effect.

I'd at least wait until the next gen versions come out because I bet alot of people will end up with lemons, if major electronics realeases in the past are any indication. Or just wait for a GSM non-apple alternative available for less.
|
Apple mania which now extends to non-designer ppl dictates you line up over night to be able to claim first-ies on the block. (even if only for a couple hours) I have received ad material in versions of software that were still in Beta. Take a bite out of the Apple...you know you must.

I love my gen2 ipod that cost me $900 for 40gig and has about a 20min battery life. :)

My first gen iPod is still kickin'! Mind you, I don't use it anymore, but the batteries still last just as long as my 30gb iPod Video.
Also: the amount/variety of food you get for lunch at japanese places for 5.99 makes me happy. /me unbuttons pants. |
oh oh Thanksgiving pants!!!!
/me averts eyes |

I now have a hard case for my new one & don’t clip it to my belt when riding! |
I'll most likely get an iPhone after a couple of generations so they can work out the bugs and put a hard drive in it.
There's not nearly enough memory on the ones in production for a decent selection of music. |
Anyone know where to get something similar to these new Old Stock Dia-Compe brake hoods?
