He probably thinks the bread diet has been working for him too.

Shiznaz 03-19-07 12:02 PM

I should apparently gain between about 5-40 pounds to be in my optimum weight vs. height ratio. I just can't ever get any heavier than 150!

TRaffic Jammer 03-19-07 12:04 PM

don't go changin'

Ugh, it was Ok in the beer haze but the memory is now too crisp for my liking...

Shiznaz 03-19-07 12:30 PM

The ladies have never complained about my rock star physique but sometimes I get light headed yknow?

somnambulant 03-19-07 12:38 PM

what's the "optimum" range? Roughly 150-190, I assume. According to my fancy new scales I'm 160lbs @ 12.5% body fat (assuming I know my height properly).

Height? Ideal weight also differs based on ethnicity.

Care to elaborate how ethnicity would play a role? Body type sure but ethnicity, that would be anew one for me.

I was 185 for many years. Messing helped to keep me there. Dont worry....once you hit 30 and keep yer diet the same you will pack em on. 225 and feeling (mostly) fine. Clydesdale class for my fat a$$...WOO WHO!

The height was for body fat %, not ideal weight. Obviously the idea of an "ideal weight" is kind of bs, because it doesn't take muscle mass vs fat vs bone density vs water weight, etc etc etc into consideration. Take two guys that are 200 lbs, same height/age/etc. One has 5% bodyfat one has 30% body fat. I'm thinking one of those is a lot more "optimum" than the other. :P

Shiznaz 03-19-07 01:02 PM

I'm just too lazy to work out and eat gross supplements. When I do I can pack on a few but I've never been heavier than 160 and felt like freaking he-man when I was 155! I'm trying to put on some extra fat and muscle for my bike trip because I can see my body consuming itself over the trip if I'm not careful.

I'm going to quote the cliche: "New studies have shown". This result wasn't entirely suprising to me.

Offhoff 03-19-07 01:39 PM

Myeh I've reached the point with polls and studies that unless I can read the primary material I don't trust the findings. Anyways I'm actually posting about a slightly different topic.

I know that all of us here on the TOfixed thread ride for a lot of different reasons. Pleasure, commuting, necessity whatever. I've decided that I want to race this summer and therefore need to train. I find that training is much easier with company so I'm wondering if anyone wants to join me. I'm going to start with doing sprint repeats at the CNE loop as soon as the weather gets nice enough to not freeze on the third loop. I'm also going to be doing hill repeats and other such torture. Its going to be pretty boring no doubt but if a few of us do it together we might help each other stay motivated.

SO if anyone is interested either post here or PM me an email address so we can start an email list or something as opposed to adding to the chaos of the tread.

Offhoff 03-19-07 01:46 PM

Oh and a question, for the poker ride would the community get pissed if a bunch of longboarders come out to ride in solidarity? A lot of those kids would be totally down to do the ride 'cause its a good cause but I don't want to post it unless I know it won't 'cause drama...

Sure. If you are a fat white guy, your ideal weight is probably going to be lower than your current weight. :D

2wheelsgood 03-19-07 01:59 PM

the poker run is intended to raise funds for a rider in need. i'm sure you could even wear roller blades *shudder* and still get away with it.

Offhoff 03-19-07 02:02 PM

I figured as much but no harm in asking before I spread the word.
