i think it's safe to put my winter bike away for the season. 14 degrees today (according to the weather people).

Mine's been gone for two or three weeks now. Soon as the ice was all gone I committed myself to not riding that studded tire monstrosity for another friggin minute.

I hope it's safe to say that winter is done

i usually like to wait until the salt had dissapeared after a few spring rains. it looks like we're not going to get snowed on again but then again you never know!

Thanks all for the trailer advice.. keeping my eyes on craigslist for good chariot/wike/mec deals. I figure the axle mount should be ok with a fixed drivetrain as long as I have enough room to slip a serrated washer in between the dropout + the mount?

Yeah, seemed like he got the initial lock but it caught back up on him and looked like the ankle rolled and bad things(tm) went down with the direction of steer. Looked pretty awkward, to say the least :(

I'm donning the shorts today, could've worn them yesterday but glad I didn't, was warm coming out of Whitby, but I left near sundown (~6:30) and after a brief safety meeting in Rouge Hill, I started to feel the chill when setting off on the way home.

Pretty sure I saw you last night chasing/riding with a fixed rider down Carlton on your 'bent, STEEKER - didn't really recognise you until you'd passed.

Someone on a bent was raging this morning along Harbord. In other news, people still bike too slow!

i got dropped so hard i may as well be still getting up, 1 week later.

actually it wasn't that bad. i started loosing sight of the pack after getting onto hwy 7 approaching dufferin.

I tried to get out there sunday morning, but was 15 mins late and missed the peleton. Saturday was still pretty cold and I already knew i wouldn't be able to breath gooder nuff to hang at 90rpm for the hwy7 stretch.

look for me next time, black fuji track... i was the only fixed gear on the ride of about 70 riders when i was out.

it was great as some of the older guys were saying "Wow a track bike, i haven't seen one of those in years.... Look at that chain!? thing must weight 2 pounds by itself!" so it was some nice bike-chat for a bit until they decided to bolt and put me in my place.

What was your gearing? i find 46x16 would have probably been perfect to spin moderate, if only my lungs + recovering bronchitis could cooperate.

where is anyone riding this EVENing? Tuz, what point in the ride did u meet up at? I pick up around sheppard.

I agree it would be nice to have a group of riders that could form another slower group, cuz when i was out, it was sponsorship central, and i was filled in by my roadie buddy that most ppl out were competitive-level riders. I am simply not there, yet, but want to hang with them within 3 months...

When I went there I didn't really notice super high-end bikes nor many specific jerseys. There were many fendered bikes, cyclocross, steel... Even a lugged Miele with DT shifters. I mostly chatted with my friend but people seemed nice, at least at the peleton's tail and while going at a reasonable pace.

I was on my road bike. Speed varied in the high 20s to high 30s, then picked up to 40+ along Jane south of King Rd. I could barely hold on and got dropped at the first tiny hill. Because of the hills I couldn't see where the group was going... and I was exhausted so I turned back.

I was also told there are many competitive-level riders, but I'm sure there are many amateurs like us. I'd like to go on the shorter "slower" route to see how it is. Sure I'd be nice to form our group.

On a fixed I'm not sure what gearing I'd choose since I was shifting quite a bit. 46x16 or 48x16 seems good. I saw a guy on a SS, should have asked.

well im addicted to group rides and will ***** it out.. so if anyone wants in i'm going to be riding for hours tonite......
