The mastercuff at Cavern really got me thinking about hand cuffs and locking bikes. I asked a couple of people who suggested these and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a pair so we can bundle our order. I wouldn't suggest using them alone to lock a bike but to keep your wheels attached to your frame and using a mini U to lock the frame they might be perfect. They are also hinged instead of using a chain so they are much harder to bypass.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

I'd personally be wanting to take at least a day off a week as a rest day too, so that would be like 120km days 6 days a week, regardless of any external or internal conditions.
He plans to be going through mexico and central america starting in mid july as well. BRUTAL HEAT!

I just want to ride with a general idea of where I'm going. If I were him I'd probably budget 6 months for a trip like that... If you miss one day, you're going to have to make up for 100km of lost distance which would be brutal, even spreading it out over a week.

urbane usually stocks them for a reasonable price.
