I got stuck in that storm, luckily I was heading east so I was spinning out the whole way home with that wind, pretty fun but I got soaked. :D

Oh so they have the internet there now? Cool. They'll discover that newfangled fixed gear technology soon enough now

1. want to sell complete.
2. gonna race the 29er in the fall cross.
3. I want to build my own...but barring that, prolly a Kona.

LordFoo 06-19-07 06:43 PM

Keith -- do you have / can you order axles for an IRO rear hub? The formula I bought is a bit narrow for my 126 spacing (not enough threads engaged on the track nuts), but I believe the axle has the same bearing configuration/diameter as the IRO hubs. Guess this extra trouble is what I get for not buying something from you in the first place :P

Most of what I sell are 120 spaced so if you want to bring me yours I will swap it for a 180mm. You can always chop off what you dont need if the extra length bothers ya. Or you can put on some pegs and trick out yo!

Hey Adam, can I get that wheel back from you this week/weekend? If you give Keith a beer he may hold it for me and I can grab it on my way home from work.

I likely won't be out to U of T for a bit.

And are the sprints on for tomorrow?

LordFoo 06-19-07 07:56 PM

Doh! I just brought it down to U of T + locked it to my desk yesterday :) Keith - if it's okay with you, I'll bring it by the shop tomorrow afternoon + we can also talk about my hub.

Yo cavit8 i'm still pouring over this EMT text book and did you ever get to be one?

Danhalen 06-19-07 09:14 PM

My track bike is in the shop right now and the Miele conversion has no cranks. So... I'm fixed-gear-less. I might still make an appearance at the sprints tomorrow night though. Maybe an exception could be made for me (for riding a freewheel) if I don't stop pedalling or change gears? :D That is if I don't clear at Eglington and Bathurst and 6:45 (which I probably will).

Har de har har har. Looks like he was trying to throw his rider into the first turn. What a rookie. His rider prolly would have been D.Qed anyway.
I went down to Unwin this morning to paint but alas the measuring wheel made it to 9 meters and then jammed on me. Craptacular! I guess I could grab some chalk and just mark out some arbitrary lines so we can mess around tonite. I didn't want to just go willy-nilly with the paint as once the lines are in paint it is pretty much permanent. Perhaps a postponement till next week is in order? I cant make an executive decision ala Kurt Russell.

No, I just got it as a good quality first aid reference. EMT never interested me much. I'm not that altruistic.

TRaffic Jammer 06-20-07 06:46 AM

heehee that throwdown makes me giggle.

canice 06-20-07 07:21 AM

shapelike 06-20-07 07:31 AM

It felt nice for a bit to think about it all being shoveled into oblivion.

canice 06-20-07 07:39 AM

I think I could handle 9m sprints! How long is it supposed to be?

I had heard about the hairshirt in past years, and a friend asked if I wanted to do it this year.. after psyching myself up into training, I realized that it was this week! My longest rides so far have only been 80-90km with a group, averaging about 30 kph.. any thoughts on what kind of training would be required for such a ride?

I think I need to get at least a full (imperial) century under my belt before I consider a double.

The usual configuration is marks painted at 0m, 100m, 200m and 300m. The first 100 is a get clipped in, up to speed segment..no one can start to sprint before the 100m line. The sprint distance is between the 100 and 300 meter lines. Once past 100 either racer can start his sprint at any time. Sometimes the sprint doesn't happen until 50m to go...sometimes they go right at the 100 mark...ya never know. Everyone starts by doing an individual 200m time. This time will determine the 2-up heat match-ups.

I_bRAD 06-20-07 08:20 AM

Ah... that sounds like a good setup. I was screwing around this morning with my 46X17 gearing and thinking I was going to get smoked on the start... but now I know it's a moving start that sounds much more feasible. :)
