PS. I love your jib. It's glorious.

Yes, yes it is.

I'm out for a ride last night and someone either left a Europe Bound 'camelback' for anyone to take, which I did, or forgot it on their front lawn by the curb.

Thats the whole story pretty much. I'm tired. Time for some coffee from Ideal.

I'll take you up on this as I need to get fitted for the Pinarello before I get more parts mysteriously sent to me in the mail. I've suggested to a couple of folks that they come in to get fitted. As long as there's no peg leg dancin' on the focs'le. Yaarrrrr...

So apparently when it rains it pours. I got clipped by a cab today. I'm ok too just a nasty gash on my knee. My front wheels is bonkered though so I'm off the road for atleast tomorrow.

For all who want details I was going north on yonge just south of charles and was passing a parked purolator truck. The cabbie switched lanes without a signal or looking and hit me. I got thrown but the bike definitely took the worst of it.

Anyways I'm all good and stay safe everyone.

zippered 04-24-07 01:37 PM

yikes

iherald 04-24-07 01:44 PM

That sucks Off, I'm glad you're ok though!

Does anyone know the messenger with the pink singlespeed with a sticker that says "your girlfriend sucks" and a Pimp On Board thing on his seat? I saw that bike today and it was pretty snazzy.

I_bRAD 04-24-07 01:55 PM

Anyone want to go for a ride with me in the next little bit? Road, mountain, fixed... whatever
I was thinking of taking the road bike out to the hills in the beaches but I could be convinced otherwise

cavit8 04-24-07 02:08 PM

Glad you're okay, Off. Today seemed to be "let's park in the bike lane" day. If the city ticketed 1/3 of the cars/delivery vehicles in the bike lanes, they could pay for the city bike plan in three months. It's tempting to get an old beater with a kick stand and just park it in the street.

I left the ring at Cavern - I was by a little later than I'd intended.

TRaffic Jammer 04-24-07 02:12 PM

DAng offhoff..... glad you're ok.

Cripes. Ride with vigilance, folks!

ps. was it you that said "yo wes" to me this morning on College? I was trying to not spill my coffee and deciding whether I should pass Mr. Slow-n-squeaky ahead of me. :P

I was gonna go for a spin at some point this evening, probably on the road bike. Not sure what time, but I was thinking not until after dinner.

I_bRAD 04-24-07 02:28 PM

I think I'm gonna head out now! Next time...

32flavours 04-24-07 03:09 PM

Aw geez, glad you're ok, Stephen.

I just got off the phone with the insurance company. Mr. Vandriver is in protect-his-ass mode. I really hope I don't screwed over.

Shiznaz 04-24-07 03:21 PM

jeez. I guess I'm next... Maybe all my bike incidents are what is keeping you guys from getting hit. Also its spring so people like to drive fast and recklessly while listening to jimmy buffet. Glad you're not dead stephen. Also dom, what a jerk!

But not surprising, this is why you always cover your ass and go after the other guy. There's no place for being nice in this litigious world anymore.

Offhoff: that sucks man, ride safe guys...

If I can be of any legal help (though I normally would represent Mr. Vandriver) let me know.

Shiznaz 04-24-07 03:52 PM

cam, it turns out my order was put on hold due to billing info. I've sorted it out now so hopefully those sandals are now on the way.

It may sound like a waste of services, and it might cost you a few bucks, but I always advise people that if they are in an accident, and bike damage or injury is apparent, stay on the scene and ask for someone to call an ambulance. This way an accident report has to be filled out on scene and witnesses give statements then and there. I have sadly learned my lesson to take nothing for granted in car/bike disputes....especially the seeming goodwill of drivers who will screw you later given the chance.

Offhoff 04-24-07 04:04 PM

Yeah I just woke up from a nap some stiffness around where my knee gash is but thats to be expected. Gonna take it easy tomorrow and hopefully all will be well. Yeah 32flavours if he starts getting ridiculous we should hold a meeting of minds and talents to make sure you get what you deserve. I'm just hoping I can get on the road again this week. To that effect if anyone has a loaner front 700c wheel I could use until my hub can get relaced to a new rim I would be forever in your debt.

are you an attourney? it would be helpful to have a legal adviser among us; especially in light of the latest round of collisions.
